InkyCap v26.10.8

Choose a tag to compare

@jchalifour jchalifour released this 16 Oct 20:44

Some fixes in the editor such as for the Home key, which now goes to the start of a line rather than the start of a section (paragraph). The Collections export tab has a more obvious default (csv, which is the first option in its list) and there is a Delete button rather than only enabling a delete from the right-click context menu. Additionally the agenda view within collections no longer has a duplicated "Find" feature, now its just one place. Adding a notebox that already existed will properly read its existing settings (for example if you copy a notebox from one computer to another).

The Flatpak now uses Gnome 51 and can just read from the user's home folder, external drives, and mounted shares (rather than the entire filesystem). Confirmation dialogues for deletions or removals are more clear throughout. Note also that older versions of the Flatpak (prior to 26.10.x) had a different app ID, so if you're using one of those and want to upgrade, please first install 26.10.6 to have your settings automatically migrated to the current version.

AppImages, which include ARM builds, are too large to fit within the CodeFloe limits so are available on this GitHub mirror. For all other builds/other OS options (Linux/Mac/Windows) please see the CodeFloe repository at: https://codefloe.com/InkyCap/app/releases/tag/v26.10.8

@jchalifour jchalifour released this 10 Oct 16:02

This is mostly a minor update with some aesthetic improvements and details, as well as follow-up on the previous release:

Mycelial view's emergent concepts (potential pages) now take advantage of the Compose functionality when creating a new note. Some in-note find highlighting improvements were implemented to see text within annotations (previously hidden). Spellcheck on complicated notes should be more efficient. Collections right panel has a rename feature for convenience. The design of the compose cards is improved. Some licence notes were missed in a previous version and are now properly included.

InkyCap v26.10.4

@jchalifour jchalifour released this 07 Oct 23:40

Improvements to Journal Scroll view, several new features, and a variety of quality-of-life fixes:

  • The Journal Scroll retains its Timeline scroll but has an additional "Neighbourhood" mode. In Neighbourhood mode, you can scroll through the notes that link to or are linked from whatever you select as your anchor note. By default this shows the context around the links and can be expanded to show the whole note. In addition there is a Compose button that will create a new note allowing you to incorporate all or parts of the linked notes as a way of coalescing the context of the whole neighbourhood into something new.

  • Files like images, PDFs, audio, or video can now be viewed in the note or in their own tab. Viewing in a separate tab also provides a list of notes that they appear in. This makes it easier to decide if you would like to delete something.

  • The Collections interface has been revised to be more clear and useful. New filters enable showing columns by Links to and Linked from.

  • AppImages, which include ARM builds, are too large to fit within the CodeFloe limits so are available on this GitHub mirror. For all other builds/other OS options please see the CodeFloe repository at: https://codefloe.com/InkyCap/app/releases/tag/v26.10.4

InkyCap v26.10.2

@jchalifour jchalifour released this 01 Oct 19:51

Packages for most operating systems are provided on the main CodeFloe repository however the AppImages will be provided here on GitHub due to its ability to provide larger file sizes. NOTE: there was a problem with the AppImage builds yesterday, the files are updated and hopefully install properly now (2026-10-02).

This release includes many updates (both visible and behind-the-scenes).

Some significant things to mention:

  • InkyCap links on the local desktop. Right-click a note (or from the File Actions menu), choose Copy InkyCap link (inkycap://), and paste it into another app (a calendar entry, an e-mail to self, a text file). This also supports making a link to a Collection that can be pasted inside an InkyCap note itself, and a link to a heading copied from a note's Outline.
  • Various improvements reduce the amount of memory InkyCap uses plus some security hardening.
  • Colourblind support improvements via a colour toggle in the settings and more alternative graphical indicators throughout the app.
  • Paste from HTML: copy part of a web page and paste it with the new command (use the command palette, search for html and there will be a paste command that works similarly to the paste from markdown command).
  • Links for non-web addresses and e-mail addresses as you type or paste: typing @ in some text will now offer to select a reference, insert an e-mail address, or just plain text.
  • Smarter citation placement against a word
  • Annotations and Typst comments are better indicated as pills. Annotations properly do not duplicate in the reading view (just in the right panel)
  • New attempt to provide Linux AppImages, which include ARM builds. These files are too large to fit within the CodeFloe limits so will be provided through the GitHub mirror.
