FaceGuard v2.1.0 delivers the Sprint 4 / Week 6 increment: a customer-trialable handover-candidate release, syncing the fork with upstream MVP v2.0.0 while preserving and validating the fork's Raspberry Pi camera and anti-spoofing setup.

This release is primarily an integration and hardening release rather than new feature work — it consolidates the trial-release deployment and anti-spoofing validation into a single, jointly-tested increment.

Highlights

Trial-release deployment (#69)

  • Synced the fork's main branch with the upstream FaceGuardV1 repository, pulling in MVP v2.0.0 documentation infrastructure (MkDocs, ADRs, architecture diagrams), CI quality gates, and the testing framework.
  • Resolved a merge conflict in agent/Dockerfile to preserve the fork's Raspberry Pi camera dependencies and existing anti-spoofing configuration.

Anti-spoofing / liveness detection (#72)

  • An open-source anti-spoofing model is integrated into the recognition agent and functionally working.
  • Demonstrated live to the customer: ~58 FPS locally, stable ~24 FPS on Raspberry Pi (brief freeze on detection events, when the recognition pipeline kicks in).
  • Not yet documented: model source/license disclosure and formal live-vs-spoof pass/fail test evidence, per #72's original acceptance criteria. Carried forward as a Sprint 5 open item.

Customer-facing documentation polish (#70)

  • docs/customer-handover.md and related customer-facing docs reviewed by @etherealboop for the trial release, closed via PR #74.

Completed scope

  • PBI-A6-TRIAL-RELEASE — Deploy the Week 6 trial release (#69)
  • PBI-A6-ANTISPOOF — Anti-spoofing / liveness detection on the recognition agent (#72)
  • PBI-A6-DOCS — Customer-facing documentation polish (#70)
  • PBI-A6-WEEK6-EVIDENCE — Week 6 report and evidence package (#71)

Known limitations / open items

  • Access indicator is currently motor-based (wired on pin 17); the customer's expected design is LED-based (blue = granted, yellow = calibrating, red = denied). Swap and on-site test with the customer planned for Monday.
  • Anti-spoofing license disclosure and live-vs-spoof test evidence are outstanding against #72's original acceptance criteria.
  • No formal documentation review, UAT walkthrough, or transition-readiness sign-off has taken place yet with the customer — the July 12 check-in was a narrower technical status update.
  • Repository cleanup, README/setup-doc updates, and GitHub repo description/tags are assigned as Sprint 5 follow-up.
  • Stretch goal for Sprint 5: function-level documentation on GitHub Pages, parsed from existing code comments.

Deployment notes

FaceGuard consists of: administrator frontend, central backend API, PostgreSQL database, edge recognition agent, and a locally connected camera. This release carries forward the same architecture as v2.0.0; the Sprint 4 change is the upstream sync plus preserved fork-specific hardware/anti-spoofing configuration.
