| Compass | A needle in the 3D view tracking your heading. The stock game shipped no compass and no map — you navigated a featureless plain by memory. |
World map (M key) |
Full-viewport island map with your position flashing. Drawn for this project from the game's own region data. |
Quest hints (H key) |
Opt-in walkthrough: SPACE reveals one step at a time, so spoilers are your choice. |
| Readable spells | The runic display font mapped one rune to one Latin letter — the names were English all along. Swapped for a Latin 5×5 font: HEALMIN, TELEPOR and friends read as themselves. |
| Item identification | Rings, sceptres and phials show their contained spell's name next to the type. (Items found in the world are usually genuinely blank — see Discoveries.) |

|---|---|
| Working rings & sceptres | Seven passive effects (Invisibility, Protection, Recuperation, Acceleration, Power, Understanding, Impalpability) existed in code but no worn item ever granted them. Now wearing an enchanted ring/sceptre works; Recuperation doubles regen. |
| Class stat growth | The stock game grants no stat growth on level-up, ever. Now each class gains along class-appropriate lines, capped safely. |
| Party-shared XP | Kill XP splits evenly among living party members instead of 100% to the killer. |
| Free temple healing | Stock temples charged level³×5 jade to heal +5 HP per visit and level³×20 to revive — refusing if nobody could pay, so an early party wipe was permanent. Now free, ungated, and one visit heals to full. |
| Free tavern rumors | Tavern hints cost 50 → 100 → 200 → ... → 4000 jade on an escalating ladder saved per party — a few early buys and you were priced out of information forever. Now free. |
| A merchant in the starting zone | The game ships one complete working shop (sell, buy-back, loyalty discounts) in a single unmarked building outside the starting zone. Now the lone inn in the Earth zone is a merchant too. Other zones untouched to protect quest NPCs. |

| Gear equipped at creation | Stock parties enter the world naked, gear unworn in inventory. Now worn from the first step. |
| Scout starts with a bow | Instead of a dagger. |
| Magician starts with a RESTORE ring | Doubled regen from step one (uses the ring mod). |
| Bow buff | From weakest weapon in the game (power 6) to power 8, on par with the short sword; renamed from "arch". |

|---|---|
| No copy-protection prompt | The wheel-code interruption never fires. |
| Straight to VGA | Video-card menu skipped. |
| Clean 4-item main menu | "Select video card" removed (it silently loaded an unpatched binary). |
| Launcher menu in color | Deep blue field, gold text, instead of grey stipple. |
| Unused-file cleanup | Optionally moves the 47 unreachable CGA/EGA/Tandy files (1.6 MB) to the backup folder; restore brings them back. |
