Jolt 0.3.9
Download Jolt-v0.3.9.dmg below. Jolt needs macOS 14 or later and updates itself after that.
Changes
- Calculate and convert units in the search field. Type
128 * 4,15% of 240, or120 lbs to kg, and the answer appears after your text. When no row is shown, Return copies the answer. - Switching scope keeps the text you typed and searches it in the new scope.
- Files shows thumbnails for images.
- The empty Files view shows your five most recently used files. Opening, previewing, copying, or dragging a file from Jolt adds it. Clear History in Settings → Privacy forgets them.
- Type or paste a path in Files, such as
~/Downloads/or afile://URL. Partial names complete each part of the path, and Return on a folder opens it inside Jolt. - Settings → General has System, Light, and Dark appearance choices.
- The starting scope setting is now "Start searching in", with the choices Current app, Apps and Mac commands, and Last used.
- First-run setup checks whether Spotlight uses the same shortcut, and asks you to test the Jolt shortcut before you finish.
- Space enters Files when Caps Lock is on.
Jolt 0.3.8
Download jolt-0.3.8-beta.dmg below. Jolt needs macOS 14 or later and updates itself after that.
Changes
- Paste copied images into terminals. In Ghostty, Terminal, iTerm2, kitty, Alacritty, WezTerm, and Hyper, Jolt pastes an image with Control-V, so Claude Code and other terminal tools receive the image instead of the letter "v".
- Paste a mixed selection as one text. Text and links join as before, copied files become their paths, and images are left out. The preview shows the joined text and says when images are left out.
- The Clipboard footer shows Shift-Space to select or deselect an item. With several items selected, it shows how many instead of Rename.
Jolt 0.3.7
Download jolt-0.3.7-beta.dmg below. Jolt needs macOS 14 or later and updates itself after that.
Changes
- Added Clipboard History. Open it with Command-Shift-V, then enable recording there or in Settings → Clipboard. The regular Jolt shortcut still opens the launcher.
- Keep text, links, rich text, images, and copied files in a local history. Copies received through Universal Clipboard show an iCloud label.
- Find clips with fuzzy search, filters, source apps, and text recognized in screenshots on your Mac. Browse history by day and keep pinned items at the top.
- Press Space for macOS Quick Look, including images and PDFs. Select several clips to copy or paste together, and save copied images to files.
- Copy, paste, pin, rename, and delete with keyboard shortcuts. Clean Text removes Markdown formatting while keeping the original clip.
- Control excluded apps, recording, retention, and storage in Clipboard settings. Detected keys and tokens are masked in the list and expire automatically unless pinned.
- Added smooth pin feedback, immediate search focus, and visible errors when a copied file is no longer available.

- Check Launch at login in Settings › General.
Jolt 0.3.0
Download jolt-0.3.0-beta.dmg below. Jolt needs macOS 14 or later and updates itself after that.
Changes
The public beta. Jolt is free while it lasts, and you no longer need a TypeSafe API key.
- Plain-language search works without a key of your own: Jolt asks Jev through its own service. The
api-keyfile of 0.2.0 is no longer read, and you can delete it. - Files, a third scope. Tab moves between the menus of the app you are in, the Mac, and Files, and a space in an empty field goes straight to Files. Find a file by its name, or turn on Find files with Jev in Settings › Privacy to describe it. Command-C copies the file, Command-Shift-C copies its path, and you can drag a row out of the panel.
- Web search: "!g", "!yt", "!w" and the other bangs search Google, YouTube, Wikipedia, GitHub, Stack Overflow, Amazon, Reddit, Maps, X, IMDb, Spotify, or DuckDuckGo in your browser. Jev picks the site when you describe the search instead.
- Actions that take a value: "keep awake for 35 minutes", "volume 20", "screenshot window in 5s". The value is read on the Mac.
- Actions of your apps, read from their scripting dictionaries: "spotify next", "dark mode on", "make the dock hide itself". Jolt never offers one that deletes, erases, quits, or logs out.
- A Lock Screen action.
- A settings window, from the bolt menu or with Command-Comma, with Launch at login.
- One shortcut to open Jolt, Command-Space unless you record another in Settings › General. The
[key, Option-Space, and Control-Option-J no longer open it. If Spotlight still has Command-Space, change one of the two. - Menu items that are your data, such as recent documents, history, bookmarks, and window names, stay on the Mac and out of the requests to Jev. Turn this off in Settings › Privacy.
- The panel starts small and grows with the results, takes the color of the app in front, and remembers where you moved it on each display.
- An app you install shows up without restarting Jolt.
