This update focuses on modern controller support, multiplayer, VMC, PS1 support, cheats, widescreen UI improvements, and better game navigation.
New Features
Virtual Multitap - Up to 4 Players
Play supported 3–4 player games without a physical multitap by combining the two PS2 controller ports with USB controllers.
Recommended setup:
- Player 1 → PS2 Port 1
- Player 2 → PS2 Port 2
- Player 3 → USB Port 1
- Player 4 → USB Port 2
For best compatibility, connect all required controllers before launching the game.
PS3 / PS4 / PS5 / Xbox Controller Support
PS2 Launcher now supports PS3, PS4, PS5 and Xbox controllers through USB.
Controller behavior:
- USB controller only → USB controller becomes Player 1
- PS2 controller + USB controller → PS2 controller is Player 1 and USB controller is Player 2
- 4-player setup → PS2 Ports 1 & 2 are Players 1 & 2, USB Ports 1 & 2 are Players 3 & 4
For the most reliable player assignment, connect the required controllers before launching the game.
Virtual Memory Card Support
VMC support is now available, allowing games to save to a virtual memory card instead of relying only on a physical PS2 memory card.
Configure VMC from the selected game's Game Options.
PlayStation 1 Game Support
PS1 games can now be launched through the Apps section using the supported PS1 loader setup.
Cheat Engine
PS2 Launcher now supports PS2RD .cht cheat files.
Place the matching cheat file inside the CHT folder.
Example:
CHT/SLES_556.35.cht
Open:
Game Options → Game Cheats
Select the cheats you want to enable before launching the game.
This can also be used for compatible widescreen and gameplay patches.
Per-Game Language Selection
Supported games can now have their language changed directly from:
Game Options → Game Language
The selected language is saved individually for each game.
Favourite Games
Games can now be marked as favourites and accessed quickly through the Favourite Games filter.
Recently Played
A new Recently Played filter makes it easier to quickly return to games you played recently.
Apps Tab
The new Apps section automatically lists .ELF applications found on connected storage devices.
This makes it easier to launch homebrew applications and supported PS1 loaders directly from PS2 Launcher.
Launcher Aspect Ratio Options
The PS2 Launcher interface now supports multiple display ratios:
- 4:3 (CRT TV)
- 16:9 (Modern TV)
- 21:9 (Ultrawide Monitor)
Choose the ratio that best matches your display.
Supported Game Devices
Games can currently be loaded from:
- USB FAT32
- USB exFAT
- USB HDD FAT32
- USB HDD exFAT
- MX4SIO
- Internal HDD APA
- Internal HDD exFAT GPT / MBR
- SMB
