Roadmap

The following is a living document.

The Islandora Foundation LG holds responsibility for defining an effective Roadmap document format, ensuring that Islandora’s broad strategic objectives are listed, and that resources made available at member institutions to make progress towards the objectives on the roadmap.

Over 2022, Islandora commits to supporting the community in a smooth transition to the next generation of our software, and building on substantial work done in recent months for the development of the community and our feature-rich, forward-facing codebase.

Q1 (to end April)

• New Islandora.ca Website Launch ✅
• Author new Conflict of Interest Policy✅
• Islandora AGM ✅
• Reorganize Github Wikis ✅
  • Complete migration and communicate about the change ✅

Q2 (to end June)

• Automate Sandbox maintenance and upkeep processes.
• Complete tweaks to standard experience (production release for Docker/Ansible)
• documentation sprint - Schedule for end June ✅
• Scope a modularizing of Islandora Defaults and consider a Solution-Pack-like wrapper for functionality
• Run a migration training and support event that provides documentation and examples of migration strategies for both new and existing users coming from 7.x. (Scheduled as part of May 2022 Open Meeting)✅

Q3 (to end September)

• Complete codebase refactoring to support modularization.
• Launch “Islandora Ambassadors” Program
• IslandoraCon 2022 with workshop pre-con (how-to sessions and demoing end user features)✅
• Finalize Roadmap working document and update process

Q4 (to end December)

• 2023 Roadmap released
