FileViewer v0.1.0

First public release. A GPUI desktop viewer for JSON, JSONC, JSONL, TOML, and
YAML, with a synchronized tree view.

Highlights

• Two-way tree sync. Click a node to jump the cursor; move the cursor and the tree follows.
• Span-exact parsers. JSON, JSONC, JSONL, TOML, and YAML are hand-written, so every node carries an exact source span. That drives syntax highlighting, validation diagnostics with jump-to-error, and click-to-locate.
• Round-trip safe formatting. Formatting and minification never reserialize the value tree, so JSONC comments and blank lines survive.
• YAML depth. Anchors, aliases, merge keys, tags, block scalars, and multi-document streams. Alias expansion is node-budget bounded, so a self-referential document reports a diagnostic instead of exhausting memory.
• Debounced background parse. 150 ms trailing window with generation guards, so typing stays responsive and stale parses never land.
• Dedicated Windows integration. Clean GUI without console popup, embedded Windows icons, right-click Explorer context menu, and default file association handler.

Install

Windows (Installer)

Run FileViewer-Setup-0.1.0.exe. The installer lets you configure:

• "Open with FileViewer" in the Windows Explorer right-click context menu (with branded icon).
• Default file associations for supported formats (.json, .jsonc, .jsonl, .ndjson, .yaml, .yml, .toml).
• Desktop & Start Menu shortcuts.
• PATH integration to run ile-viewer directly from PowerShell or Command Prompt.

Windows (Portable)

Extract FileViewer-0.1.0-windows-x86_64.zip anywhere and launch ile-viewer.exe.

Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)

Linux (no root)

./uninstall.sh removes it again.

Linux binaries are built on Ubuntu 26.04 and need libxcb1, libxkbcommon0, and
libxkbcommon-x11-0. macOS has no prebuilt binary yet; build from source with
cargo build --release.
