L33tGuard
L3G
L33tGuard (L3G) is a sophisticated algorithm designed to filter and block inappropriate words in online communication, especially within environments like Minecraft. It goes beyond simple keyword detection by recognizing and substituting common character variations, or "leet" (1337) speak, that users might employ to bypass traditional chat filters.
L3G operates by detecting a wide range of character substitutions that resemble or represent specific letters. For instance, the word "shit" might be entered in several variations such as "sh1t", "shi+", "$hit", "$h!+" and more. L3G identifies these variations by mapping common substitutions for each letter, thereby maintaining the integrity of your community's chat environment, and making it so you only need to block "shit", and leave the rest to L3G.
-
Character Mapping: L3G uses a comprehensive mapping of letters to common substitutions:
-
A→4,@ -
E→3 -
I→1,!,| -
O→0 -
S→5,$ -
T→7,+ - ... and more.
-
-
Pattern Matching: The algorithm scans input text for patterns that match known inappropriate words, considering the various substitutions and combinations.
-
Customizable Rules: Administrators can add custom words and substitutions to the filter, allowing for personalized and context-specific filtering.
While L33tGuard is advanced, it is nowhere near perfect or complete.
