LeanTabs v1.0.0 - Initial Release
LeanTabs - Declutter Your Browser, Not Your Brain.
I built LeanTabs because I was tired of the flawed compromise that every other tab manager forces upon us.
We're told to choose between a fast browser and our peace of mind. We can have performance, but only if we accept the visual chaos of suspended tabs. We can have simplicity, but only at the cost of our context and the deep-seated anxiety of irreversible data loss.
I reject that compromise. My guiding principle in creating LeanTabs was simple: Your work is sacred. This release is the culmination of that principle - a complete system designed to give you a clean slate, without the fear of a blank page.
My philosophy in action:
To solve the "Fear of Closing," LeanTabs archives, it doesn't delete.
A browser with hundreds of open tabs isn't a sign of disorganization; it's a defense mechanism against losing a valuable thought. LeanTabs breaks this cycle. When you perform a "clean," your tabs aren't destroyed; they are archived - converted into a lightweight, resource-free, and instantly searchable list of links. Your browser becomes fast and responsive, while your knowledge becomes permanent and accessible. The trade-off is eliminated.
To solve project overlap, LeanTabs offers a flexible choice, not a rigid rule.
A browser holds multiple contexts at once, but generic tools are blunt instruments. LeanTabs respects the boundaries of your work by giving you a powerful choice:
- Surgical Cleaning: You can clean with precision, targeting only your current window or Opera Workspace, leaving all other projects untouched.
- Global Cleaning: Or, when you need a full reset, you can clean across all windows in a single, decisive action.
The tool adapts to your immediate need, not the other way around.
To solve static archives, LeanTabs is built as a dynamic workspace.
Your work isn't static. It grows, merges, and splits. A simple saved list is a dead end. LeanTabs is designed to treat your archive as a living database. That quick research from last week? Select those links and move them into a new, dedicated session. Those two related projects? Merge them. This isn't just storage; it's an active knowledge management system that mirrors the fluid nature of your ideas.
Trust is earned through transparent engineering you can verify.
I believe that trust isn't a feature you can claim; it's an outcome of a product's design.
- Your data is processed locally and only locally. It never leaves your machine.
- The Smart Import Wizard isn't a black box. It's a guided process that respects your existing data, allowing it to restore your settings and whitelist, detect and manage duplicates, and flawlessly preserve session structures for seamless migration.
- The automatic backups are labeled with content previews, so you see what you're restoring before you commit.
I built the system I would be willing to trust with my own work.
This initial release is for those who see their browser not just as a window to the web, but as a primary workspace. It's for those who demand tools that respect their time, their focus, and their ideas.
It's ready.
