Koda 4.0 (versionCode 18)

This is the big one. Koda isn't just a music player anymore. Flip the
video toggle and the whole app turns into a proper YouTube video app,
with a feed that actually knows what you like, a real player, comments,
subscriptions, and notifications.

Thanks Claude Fable 5.

Video Mode

When you turn on video, the Home, Search, and Library tabs all switch
over to watching instead of listening.

  • Your real "what to watch" feed shows up when you're logged in. Logged
out, Koda builds a feed from what you've been watching (YouTube killed
off the public Trending page, so this fills the gap).
  • Channel icons and clean duration badges everywhere, plus LIVE tags. No
    more blank badges.

The Video Player

  • Real quality options now, all the way up to 2160p60, with proper audio.
It used to get stuck at a muxed 360p because of YouTube's token stuff,
    that's fixed.
  • Double-tap either side to skip forward or back.
  • Picture-in-Picture that shows just the video, not your whole screen.
  • Optional timed comments: comments that mention a moment in the video
quietly fade in as you reach it.

Subscriptions and Notifications

  • New Subscriptions tab in video mode with the latest uploads from
channels you follow, a row of channel avatars up top, an All view for
every channel, and tap-through into any channel's uploads.
  • Watch history gets its own History tab now.
  • A notification bell on the video home screen. Tap one to play it.

Comments and Engagement

  • Read and write comments and replies, right from the player. Yours show
    up instantly.
  • Like, dislike, and subscribe from the player using your account.

Search

  • In video mode, Search opens onto an Explore screen instead of your
music library: quick topic chips like Gaming, News, and Live, plus a
    Trending list.

Onboarding

  • Rebuilt from scratch with Material 3 Expressive. Morphing shapes, a wavy
progress bar, cleaner toggles, a skip button, and six steps instead of
    nine.

Fixes

  • Login was grabbing the wrong cookies, which left you "logged in" but
invisible to YouTube, so nothing personalized worked. Fixed.
  • Video watch history now saves properly and doesn't get dropped while a
    video is still buffering.
  • Library playlists load again when you're logged in.
  • Cleaner Search, Artist, and Album headers, and removed the odd glow
    behind the album art.
