The story follows Walter White, a brilliant but mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After being diagnosed with inoperable Stage 3A lung cancer, he is given only two years to live. Driven by a desperate need to secure his family's financial future before he dies, he decides to use his chemistry expertise to produce and sell high-purity methamphetamine.
He partners with Jesse Pinkman, a former student and small-time drug dealer. Walt's entry into the violent and ruthless drug trade forces him to adopt a new, ruthless persona: Heisenberg. What begins as a desperate measure for his family soon devolves into a dark journey of power, ego, and moral decay.
