Flowtake v1.7.2

Free screen recorder and timeline editor with automatic zoom. Flowtake application code is MIT-licensed. Release packages do not redistribute FFmpeg; Flowtake detects a separately installed system FFmpeg and the first-launch setup explains how to add it. Windows 10/11 x64 is the primary validated target; macOS and Linux builds are previews.

Verify before installing: use only the official assets below and check them against SHA256SUMS.txt. Windows artifacts are not Authenticode-signed. macOS artifacts are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized, so SmartScreen or Gatekeeper may warn.

Installation Instructions

Windows

  1. Download the .exe installer
  2. Run it and follow the on-screen prompts
  3. Let first-launch setup detect FFmpeg, or install it with:
winget install --id Gyan.FFmpeg --exact --source winget

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg file
  2. Open the disk image and drag Flowtake into your Applications folder
  3. Verify SHA256SUMS.txt, then right-click the app → Open if macOS shows the expected unverified-developer warning
  4. Install a compatible system FFmpeg if needed. With Homebrew: brew install ffmpeg

Linux

  • Debian/Ubuntu (.deb):
    sudo dpkg -i flowtake_*.deb
sudo apt-get install -f # resolve any missing dependencies
  • AppImage (universal):
    sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
    chmod +x Flowtake_*.AppImage
    ./Flowtake_*.AppImage
  • Fedora/RHEL (.rpm):
    sudo rpm -i flowtake-*.rpm

Linux note: The .deb and .rpm packages declare ffmpeg, xdotool, and wmctrl as dependencies. Screen capture requires X11 or XWayland; pure Wayland capture is not supported.
