Apple Watch App

While on the phone the current solution is perfect, I am missing the possibility to control my Soundtouch via Apple Watch. Basic Features would be enough (Power On/Off, Volume, select preset).

A watch app would build on a native iOS app, and that one is not scheduled yet (#1182). I've added the watch to the backlog in #390. Vote with the upvote arrow if you want this; votes help me decide what comes next.

Clear to me that this is not an easy one, but thanks for considering!
For the time being I created some Shortcuts (in Apple’s Kurzbefehle/Shortcuts App) which allow at least power on/off and start a preset via the watch.

Nice workaround with Shortcuts! Would you share how you set them up? I'd like to add that to the iPhone instructions so others can control their speakers from the watch the same way.

Sure. I think a lot can be done with Shortcuts, it's mostly about usability if it makes sense or not.

Note: I use the most recent IOS (IOS 27), there were some changes since made in this version - and I have a Soundtouch 20 (first version).

Which Shortcuts did I set up:

• Power: Simulates a press of the power button, so it turns on when off and turns off when on.
• Preset: Simulates a press on the preset (switches to that preset when on, turns on and plays the preset when off)
• Volume down: Decreases the vulume by '1'
• Volume up: Increases the volume by '1'
• Volume : Sets the volume to a defied level

Steps for Power:

• Create a new Shortcut
• Add a Text action. Paste the XML: <key state="press" sender="Gabbo">POWER</key>
• Add an action of type 'Get Contents of URL' ('Inhalte von URL abrufen')
• URL is: http://<IP-of-your-speaker>:8090/key
• Change the Method to 'POST'
• Set 'Request Body' (Haupttext anfordern') to 'Text'
• As File select the 'Text' Variable you defined before

Preset is almost the same:,
-Instead of POWER put 'PRESET_1' (or 2,3, ...6) in the xml text of the first variable.
-And you need to repeat both steps and change the 'press' in th XML to 'release', otherwise ST thinks its a long press.

Volume up or down is exactly the same as preset, the name of the key in the XML is VOLUME_DOWN or VOLUME_UP. Don't forget to 'release', especially with Volume up ;-)

Set the volume to a defined level:

• Duplicate what you already created for 'POWER'
• Change the XML text, e.g. for volume level 20, to <volume>20</volume>
• Change the link in the second step, to http://<IP-of-your-speaker>:8090/volume

Your setup is now in the control API docs as its own section (Apple Shortcuts and Apple Watch), with your steps and the STR endpoints next to them. POST http://<speaker-ip>:8888/api/play/1 starts a preset without the press and release pair, and /api/box/power with {"on":true} or {"on":false} switches on or off without toggling. Your warning about a VOLUME_UP without its release went in too.
