PauseLab v1.3.1 - Reliable Android cross-app breaks
PauseLab v1.3.1 — Reliable Android cross-app breaks
This update makes the native Android experience match the intended PauseLab behavior: after a user starts a focus timer, the transparent creature animation appears automatically above the launcher or an ordinary app when time expires. Tapping the notification is not required.
Improvements
- Adds a live three-part permission gate for notifications, Display over other apps, and Alarms & reminders.
- Blocks timer start until every required Android permission is ready, preventing a notification-only break.
- Adds creature count (1–30), size (50%–200%), and speed (25%–250%) controls to the mobile interface.
- Carries those effect settings through the JavaScript bridge, foreground service, exact alarm, process restoration, and preview path.
- Prevents the in-process timer and exact alarm from rebuilding the overlay twice when they arrive together.
Verified behavior
The debug APK was tested on an Android emulator by starting a timer, returning to the launcher, and waiting without interacting with the notification. The overlay appeared automatically. Runtime logs confirmed exact count, size, and speed values, and the Android build plus Lint completed successfully.
Android intentionally hides third-party overlays on security-sensitive system, password, payment, and some anti-cheat screens. This development-signed APK is intended for direct testing and hackathon judging, not app-store production distribution.
Install
Download PauseLab-Android-1.3.1-judging.apk, install it, and follow the first-run permission guide until all three status pills are ready. Choose a short timer or use Preview now, then switch to the launcher or another ordinary app.
