A fifth look, Windows Vista Basic: Windows 7 Basic's frames over Vista's dark gradient bar with glassy task buttons, and the Vista Start menu with its power, lock and arrow buttons, measured off a screenshot.

Disk Management, the Windows 2000 snap-in: every disk drawn as a row of partitions to scale under the volume list, with unallocated space, extended partitions and their logical drives, and CD-ROMs. It creates and deletes partitions, formats them (NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, ext2/3/4, XFS, Btrfs, swap), mounts them in a folder, marks one active, initializes a blank disk as MBR or GPT, and shows properties, each through the Windows dialog and warning, then as root through pkexec. Volumes Linux is running from are refused. In System Tools and the Control Panel.

The looks bring their own themes for other programs: Windows XP switches GTK programs to B00merang's Windows XP Luna theme and icons and Qt programs to the same through the GTK 2 bridge; Windows Vista and Windows 7 Basic switch to the Windows Vista and Windows-7 themes, the Windows-7 icons and the Windows 7 Kvantum theme for Qt; Modern goes to Adwaita and Fusion; the classic schemes go back to Chicago95. The desktop's own icon set follows too. The installer fetches all of these, each is used only when installed, and the session reads the choice from the scheme at logon instead of pinning Chicago95.

Windows 7 Basic: task buttons reach the bar's last row.
