1.46.1: the four left over

The four findings 1.46.0's notes left under "Not yet" are in.

Fixed

• Windows Update no longer freezes while it checks. Check for updates asked the package manager, Flatpak, Snap and the release list in the window's own thread, so the window stopped repainting and taking clicks for as long as they took -- minutes on a box with stale metadata. The checks now run beside the window: it keeps repainting, the Check and Install buttons are greyed until the answer is in, a second click starts nothing, and closing the window stops the check.

• The Address bar in Control Panel and Network and Dial-up Connections works. Its arrow showed no list and Go did nothing. The list now holds the shell's places -- Desktop, My Documents, My Computer, Control Panel, Network and Dial-up Connections, Recycle Bin -- and choosing one opens it; Go refreshes the window, as View > Refresh does. l2kexplorer "My Computer", l2kexplorer Desktop and the other place names also work from the command line now.

• Paint: picking a colour from an empty spot no longer switches every tool off. On a layer with nothing under it, the Pick tool took a colour with no alpha at all; the swatch showed white, and the pencil, brush, shapes and text drew nothing with no sign why. An empty spot now picks opaque white, as Paint's empty canvas is white; a partly transparent spot still picks its real alpha.

• A Flatpak program's Open or Save dialog goes away when the program does. The portal never answered the front end's Close, so a program that quit or cancelled left its dialog on the screen, threw away whatever was then picked, and made the next request wait behind it. Requests now queue properly and a Close ends the dialog at once.
