Guide text you can shape and trust. A new Description template lets you write
your own guide description, Claude's preview included or not. The built-in
description drops a line of threshold numbers viewers read as math, taglines
name the stakes a game actually moves instead of the same "playoff" pair on
every game, and Claude's previews now know each team's record and how far the
season has gone.
Added
- Description template. A new Description template setting lets you
choose what the guide shows as each game's description, with the same
{variable}rules as the channel name template plus{llm}(the
Claude-written preview),{details}(the built-in description) and
{source_channel}. Blank keeps the built-in description. When LLM
descriptions are on and the template has no{llm}, no Claude call is made.
Test naming convention previews the description too. (#317)
Fixed
- "Math" in the guide description. For NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA, college sports
and NCAA soccer, the built-in description ended with a raw threshold legend
such as95+ pts → playoff bubble · 100+ → comfortable · ..., the same on
every game. It is gone; league tables (soccer) keep their plain-English
"the top 4 take the Champions League ..." sentence. (#317) - Test naming convention showed blank dates and times. Its sample games
had no kickoff or venue, so{game_date},{start_time},{kickoff}and
{venue}previewed empty, and it skipped the double-space cleanup apply
does, so a custom name could look broken in the preview but fine on the
channel. The samples now kick off tomorrow at 7 PM with a venue, the cleanup
is shared, and the result is short enough to read in full, with any problem
on the last line. The variable list moved to the template settings' help
text, which now also names{recording_dot}. (#317) - Template checks catch two more mistakes. A
{group}holding two
variables (only the first was ever filled in, the second printed as a plain
word) and braces in the wrong order such as{home_team}}{used to pass and
show up in the channel name. Both are now reported, and the default is used
until they are fixed, the same as any other broken template. (#317) - Taglines say what a game is actually about. The "race" tagline on a
channel name and in the guide listed the first outcome bands a game touched
at all, so early in a season nearly every NHL game read "playoff bubble /
playoff secured race", including games where the result barely moved
anything. It now names the stakes this result moves most for the two teams
playing, biggest first; a favorite's own race no longer headlines two other
clubs' game; a group-stage game is tagged with its group stake, never a
later round such as "Championship"; and when the game hardly changes anyone's
odds the stake is left out (the tagline then falls back to a ranked matchup,
toss-up or favorite). The Claude descriptions get the same list, so cached
ones are rewritten once on the next apply. (#319) - Claude previews know where the season is. For the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA,
WNBA, MLS, college basketball, college baseball and softball, and NCAA
soccer, the Claude-written description was given no team records and no
sense of how far the season had gone, and it guessed: a week-7 NFL game was
previewed as both teams kicking off their seasons. Each game now carries
both teams' records (with draws and standings points where the league
counts them), taken from the season the plugin already reads to score
importance, and the preview is told how many games have been played. Two
new checks throw out a preview that calls a game a season opener when it is
not, or that claims something about last season the plugin never gave it;
the built-in description is used instead. (#318)
