Remastered CE 0.1.17 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.17 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
This release includes every prior patch recipe and adds:
- Restore the original Shogun 2 unit recruitment videos (41 land, hero and ship clips) through a new eighth pack,
data/movies.pack. - Add the missing launch smoke to the Boshin Parrott gun (
Cannon_common_shot_lrg). - Fix combat sounds being rejected when the camera is close; distant-sound culling is unchanged.
Upgrade: download and extract this release's installer ZIP once, then run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Earlier installers cannot install 0.1.17 because it adds an eighth pack. The game launcher is unchanged.
All three changes were confirmed in local play. The patch reconstructs files from locally installed original and Complete Edition games; complete game packs and engine DLLs are not distributed.
Remastered CE 0.1.16 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.16 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
This release includes every prior 0.1.12 patch recipe, the newer banner and battle-audio fixes, and the corrected independent Hell mode.
- Restore naval fleet-count banner geometry.
- Correct movement pitch and start-delay controls in 48 infantry/cavalry sound banks.
- Increase 47 combat sound banks by 3 dB and restore 430 matched-combat sound-timing files. The combined stab/kill-move correction was confirmed in local play.
- Add seven-pack installer support while retaining backward-compatible uninstall handling.
- Give Hell its own campaign/human/AI difficulty IDs and 21 copied modifier rows, with battle realism, fame threshold -1 and
auto_save_hell.{clan}autosaves. - Restore the original hardest-difficulty starting enemy armies/rebellions for all nine affected clans under Hell. Start a new Hell campaign for the initial spawns; existing campaigns are not retroactively populated.
Upgrade from 0.1.12: Download and extract this release's installer ZIP once, then run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. The game launcher itself is unchanged. Automatic installer self-updating remains excluded. Previously withdrawn builds are superseded by this release; the archived original 0.1.12 download remains available.
The final installer rebuild was compared with the tested local installation. Native checks cover Hell's IDs, modifiers, startup/load handling, realism, autosave prefix and fame threshold. Lua 5.1 execution checks cover exact starting-force calls, original difficulties and multiplayer suppression. The user confirmed the corrected local result; these checks do not establish that every possible save/campaign path was played through.
The patch reconstructs files from locally installed original and Complete Edition games. Complete game packs and engine DLLs are not distributed. See CHANGELOG.md for all 40 documented entries and source/hell/ for the inspectable Hell implementation.
Remastered CE 0.1.12 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.12 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
- Hell difficulty: Enforces Legendary battle realism after deployment and restores Legendary-style automatic saving, using
auto_save_hell.{clan}names. Hell keeps instant Realm Divide and Legendary AI difficulty values. - Yari wall: Engaged units now process movement orders without requiring the player to disable yari wall. Confirmed working in-game.
- Kneel fire: Removed the kneel-fire-specific movement eligibility block. Other eligibility checks and firing-drill behaviour remain in place; packaged native checks passed, with fresh in-game confirmation still pending.
- Naval AI: Replaced the naval holding group with CE's normal naval attack group so defending fleets engage. Confirmed working in-game. This changes tactical group behaviour, not campaign battle ownership or victory conditions.
- Drop-in battles: Pre-battle selection respects the campaign's saved setting; changes on that screen are also saved.
Existing installer versions 0.1.10 and newer can obtain this release through Install / Update. For a fresh installation, download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it and run the included setup. Older installer applications need replacement with the current ZIP.
All earlier content is retained. Orendiz is credited for the blood/smoke rework. The naval attacker-group approach was also reported by pad345654 in the Shogun 2 Bugfix Mod; this release implements it against CE's own engine.
Release validation compares the reconstructed engine code/data against the locally tested build, checks relocated helper targets and native rules, and rebuilds all five packs from the signed package. A fresh launcher uninstall/reinstall gameplay test remains pending.
Remastered CE 0.1.11 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.11 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Fixes the campaign-selection crash in 0.1.10. The packaged Hell label helper tried to write runtime state into protected metadata. Mutable state now uses writable engine data, with label text kept read-only and its string object initialized correctly.
If you have the 0.1.10 installer, choose Install / Update. For a fresh installation, download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it and run the included setup. Installer versions older than 0.1.10 still require replacement with the latest ZIP.
Hell difficulty, tooltip colours, saved Proximity Fading and all earlier content are retained. Game asset recipes are unchanged from 0.1.10. Blood/smoke rework: Orendiz.
Verification executed the Hell label, campaign UI-state writes and Hell/Legendary settings from the corrected DLL mapped by Windows, confirming writable state-page permissions. Package signatures and engine construction were checked. A fresh in-game campaign launch of this package has not been claimed.
Remastered CE 0.1.10 Preview
Campaign-crash fix: update to 0.1.11. In the 0.1.10 installer, choose Install / Update. The packaged Hell label state-storage bug in this release can crash campaign selection.
Remastered CE 0.1.10 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Fixes Unsupported destination pack from 0.1.9: the installer now supports the localisation pack containing the new tooltip colours. Uninstall supports both older four-pack installations and the new five-pack layout.
Download the new RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip and run its RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Existing installer applications must be replaced for this release. Clicking Update in an older application cannot upgrade that application; it now displays a clear newer-installer message before installation.
Includes the 0.1.9 Hell difficulty, coloured morale/fatigue tooltips, and the Proximity Fading checkbox with saved On/Off settings. Game content and native patches are unchanged from 0.1.9. Blood and smoke rework: Orendiz.
A complete production build verified all five reconstructed packs, the engine, the DLSS runtime and launch layout in a separate verification folder. Package signing and rejection by older installers were checked. This does not claim a fresh packaged in-game test.
Remastered CE 0.1.9 Preview
Installer fix available: download the 0.1.10 installer ZIP. Version 0.1.9 rejects the new localisation pack with Unsupported destination pack. Replace the installer application with 0.1.10.
Remastered CE 0.1.9 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
- Hell difficulty: New slider position after Legendary for the base Shogun 2 campaign. Uses Legendary campaign/battle rules and AI bonuses, with required Realm Divide fame set to -1. Its label and Legendary-style control locks are included.
- Proximity Fading: New graphics checkbox directly below SSAO. Controls near-camera unit fading and saves either On or Off across restarts. Updates preserve the saved choice.
- Battle tooltips: Colour-coded morale and fatigue labels, retaining CE wording.
Existing users can choose Install / Update Remastered CE in their current installer to download this release. Fresh installations: download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it, and run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Both installed Steam games are required; complete game files are reconstructed locally.
The existing diplomacy fixes, smoke/blood ports, DLSS launch layout and white-helmet launcher are retained. Blood and smoke rework credited to Orendiz. Tooltip colours adapted from the supplied Bug fix collection.
The local Hell mode and proximity-fading persistence were confirmed in-game. Package checks verify the three updated asset recipes and compression, native helper instructions/targets, and package signature. A fresh in-game installation of the packaged build has not been claimed.
Remastered CE 0.1.8 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.8 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Fixes invisible Demand Break Alliance clan lists. Runtime capture confirmed the allied-clan row existed but its parent list box was hidden. The alliance menu now explicitly shows its offer/demand list boxes. The local correction was tested successfully across multiple clans.
The release retains the confirmed local alliance-query correction. Trade embargo, the working white-helmet launcher, DLSS, and the existing graphics/content changes are retained. Temporary diagnostic logging is excluded.
Existing users: open the installer and choose Install / Update to download 0.1.8. For a fresh installation, download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it and run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Both installed Steam games are required; complete game files are reconstructed from local installations.
Blood and smoke rework credited to Orendiz.
Targeted package checks verify the modified UI recipe, signature, and engine helper against the confirmed local fix. The installer application code is unchanged apart from the version label. A fresh in-game test of the packaged installer has not been claimed.
Remastered CE 0.1.7 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.7 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Blood and smoke rework: Orendiz. Thank you for the original effects used in this patch.
Includes the Better Vanilla Smoke matchlock port with corrected animation-cell sizes, GBJ blood effects and visible ground splatters, the ground-blood alpha compatibility fix, and the confirmed diplomacy fix for empty break-alliance and trade-embargo clan lists. Existing building-smoke changes are retained.
The 0.1.7 installer also disables near-camera unit fading in an existing CE preferences script. It changes only proximity_fading, preserves the file encoding and other settings, and saves a .remasteredce-unit-fade.bak backup. This preference is shared with vanilla CE. If no preferences script exists yet, launch the game once and set proximity_fading false; afterward.
Download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it, and run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Both installed Steam games are required. Vanilla game files remain untouched. Complete game files and the NVIDIA runtime are reconstructed or copied from local installations.
Existing 0.1.5/0.1.6 installer applications can download the signed 0.1.7 game update through Install / Update. Their application code does not upgrade itself, so use the new installer ZIP for automatic unit-fading preference handling, or set that preference manually. The working white-helmet launcher and DLSS launch layout are unchanged.
The failed naval-wake shader experiment was reverted and is excluded. Wake investigation remains local; this release makes no naval-wake fix claim.
Individual local fixes were tested during development, including visible ground blood, disabled unit proximity fading, and populated diplomacy demand lists. Release reconstruction and signature validation are checked separately; a fresh in-game run of the newly packaged installer is not claimed.
See CHANGELOG.md for the complete mod changelog and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt for credits.
Remastered CE 0.1.6 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.6 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Corrects only the installer’s vanilla shader reference to the supplied shaders.pack. No changes to Remastered shader output, other game packs, the engine, launcher behavior, or settings.
The vanilla shader reference for 0.1.6 is the supplied shaders.pack (SHA-256 7d6ff45568b25a4c9729fa6df32e1c79ba51ba3ea5a7e35058d77217fd32847f). The installer checks this reference in the local CE installation. Generated Remastered shaders and all other game outputs remain identical to 0.1.5. The reference pack itself is not distributed.
Download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it, and run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Existing 0.1.5 installers can obtain the signed 0.1.6 package through Install / Update. The update requires the matching vanilla shader source in the local CE data folder.
The complete shader reconstruction was replayed against the supplied reference and matched the existing Remastered shader hash exactly. External and embedded package signatures passed verification. Installer application code is unchanged from 0.1.5; its previously tested safeguards remain in place.
The local Better Vanilla Smoke / GBJ blood port and its animation-cell correction are not included in this release. No installed game files were replaced while preparing this reference correction.

Remastered CE 0.1.5 Preview
Remastered CE 0.1.5 preview
By JakeTheRipper.
Restores the working DLSS launch layout. The white-helmet launcher starts RemasteredCE/shogun2_complete_edition.exe, with CE.dll and the NVIDIA runtime copied and modified locally as needed. The launcher binary is the same one used in the successful game launch.
Includes the required base-game data links that were missing from the earlier installer build. The installer links unchanged local CE data files into the separate data folder and preserves the four modified packs. Uninstall removes those links while keeping the vanilla files. Updates rebuild the links from the current CE installation. A filesystem supporting Windows hard links (normally NTFS) is required.
Download RemasteredCE_Installer_Preview.zip, extract it, and run RemasteredCE_Setup.exe. Older installers cannot build this layout; downloading the .rce alone does not upgrade the installer.
Full file reconstruction and automated checks passed, including base-data linking, uninstall preservation of vanilla files, signature verification, and rollback. The working layout has loaded in-game with DLSS selectable; a fresh-install user test of this installer is pending.
Game pack contents and engine modifications are unchanged. Vanilla files are not replaced. Game assets, the complete game executable, engine DLL, and NVIDIA runtime are obtained from local installations rather than distributed here. Settings and saves remain shared with CE.
