displaymotion 0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Jan1k1 Jan1k1 released this 15 Oct 17:52

Clicks, animation events and a new module name.

New

  • Clickable hitboxes: display.hitbox(1f, 0.5f).onClick(click -> ...). Left and right click, runs on the main thread. Vanilla interaction entities, sent as packets
  • Animation events: animation.event(10, "click") and display.onEvent(event -> ...). Play a sound or particles at the exact tick. Works through then, with and loop
  • motion.debug(true) logs where every click goes
  • Blockbench import merges cubes that touch and drops cubes hidden inside others, so models with many cubes need fewer entities
  • Anonymous usage stats with bStats. Turn them off with DisplayMotion.create(plugin, false), or for the whole server in plugins/bStats/config.yml

Example plugin

  • /dm showcase spawns everything at once in a half circle. Click the models to switch their animation
  • /dm button: right click presses it with a click sound, left click breaks it
  • New robot and windmill models

Breaking: the module is renamed
The packetevents module is now paper. The package is now org.jan1k.displaymotion.paper.

repositories { maven("https://jitpack.io") }
dependencies { implementation("com.github.Jan1k1.displaymotion:displaymotion-paper:v0.2.0") }

You still need the PacketEvents plugin on the server and depend: [packetevents] in plugin.yml.

Try it on a server

  1. Paper 26.3 and Java 25
  2. Put PacketEvents 2.14.0 or newer in plugins
  3. Put displaymotion-example-0.2.0.jar from below in plugins
  4. /dm showcase

@Jan1k1 Jan1k1 released this 15 Oct 14:46

First release. Animate vanilla display entities from Java, no mods, no resource pack, all packets through PacketEvents.

What's in it

  • Models from blocks, items and texts with parents, groups and matrix parts
  • Animations with easing: presets (popIn, spin, bob, slide, turn...) plus your own keyframes, combine with then, with, loop
  • Import from Blockbench (.bbmodel) and BDEngine (.bdengine), animations included
  • Ready effects: shatter, tombstone, sword rain, soul
  • Glow color, brightness, billboard, live text, teleport with glide, per player visibility
  • Runs on its own thread, the main thread only copies player positions. Packets are encoded once and shared, unchanged parts are not sent, client side culling

Try it on a server

  1. Paper 26.3 and Java 25
  2. Put PacketEvents 2.14.0 or newer in plugins
  3. Put displaymotion-example-0.1.0.jar from below in plugins
  4. /dm windmill, /dm effect tombstone, /dm killeffect tombstone, /dm model robot.bbmodel walk, /dm model chest.bdengine open

Use it in your plugin

repositories { maven("https://jitpack.io") }
dependencies { implementation("com.github.Jan1k1.displaymotion:displaymotion-packetevents:v0.1.0") }
