One Must Fall 2097, remastered for Windows, macOS and Linux: widescreen, high resolutions, HD artwork, new lighting and effects, and the original music and sounds. Everything is included: download, run, play.

What's new in 0.4.0

  • Fire and Ice. The one-player game's two secret opponents are here, as the 1994 program hides them. On Champion or harder, win in the Fire Pit, do a destruction, then your robot's Fire & Ice move: it breaks through the floor, and the next fight is against Fire, an enhanced Katana in flame colors, in the burning pit below. On Ultimate the floor there is a grille too, and the same against Fire leads to Ice, a translucent Shadow in a frozen pit. Their fights score 5 and 50 times as much, losing to them costs you nothing, and once you have beaten them the Fire Pit stays closed for the rest of the game. Everything about them (their stats, their way of fighting, their arenas, the rules) comes from the original program itself. Every robot but Nova has the move: the manual and, where it can be done, the pause menu's move list show it.
  • Finisher keys. Turn them on in Options › Controls › Finisher keys: once you have won a fight, one key does your robot's scrap, the next its destruction (the scrap first) and the third its Fire & Ice move, and the special button does the next finishing move, on a gamepad too. They enter the moves as you would, so LAN games and replays see the same. The original motions still work.
  • And: Deadly and Ultimate now score 1.5 and 2 times as much, as in the original (they counted 1.2 and 1.4), and a special move from the special button that ends on the neutral position starts on the same frame in its replay as in the fight.

Or play it in your browser, nothing to install: jared-woodruff.github.io/OMF-2097-Remastered (it keeps working offline once it has loaded).

The first start:

  • Windows may say it protected your PC: the files aren't code-signed yet. Choose More info › Run anyway. The app runs on Microsoft Edge WebView2, which Windows 10 and 11 have. Windows XP, 7, 8 and 8.1 can't run it: WebView2 left them behind in 2023, and XP never had it.
  • macOS: unzip the app and move it to Applications. It isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS won't open it the first time: open System Settings › Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway, once. For LAN games, let it find devices on your local network when it asks.
  • Linux: let the AppImage run as a program (in its file's properties, or chmod +x), then start it. Some distributions need FUSE 2 for AppImages (libfuse2), and the Noto fonts for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Bengali and Arabic. With a firewall on, LAN games need port 2097 (TCP and UDP).

Your settings, records, tournament pilots, custom tournaments, replays, mods and OMF Studio projects from 0.3 carry over: replace the old download with the new one.

What's in it

  • The whole game (tournament, one and two player, all robots and arenas, and now Fire and Ice), faithful to the original down to the frame, in fourteen languages.
  • LAN games between two computers, on any of the three systems.
  • Classic or remastered graphics, switched live with F2: HD artwork, the Orbitron typeface, lights, particles and a fight camera.
  • Replays, video and GIF clips, a training lab, arcade, survival and time attack, achievements, a robot workshop and custom tournaments.
  • Mods and OMF Studio, with four new robots and four new arenas as a mod that comes with the game.
  • Xbox controllers, modern key layouts, one-button specials and finishers, your own music, two announcers (who read the news too), and the remaster's credits.

Screenshots (F12 or Print Screen), replays and clips are saved in the OMF 2097 Remastered folder in your Downloads.
