Privacy Policy for ApexGrid

Introduction

ApexGrid ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how ApexGrid handles information when you use our Chrome browser extension.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally

ApexGrid stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's Storage API:

  • Widget Configuration: Positions, sizes, and layout of widgets on your dashboard
  • Widget Data: User-entered content such as:
    • Todo list items
    • Quick links and bookmarks
    • Custom notes and text
    • Counter and countdown values
    • Water intake tracking data
    • Custom widget settings
  • Preferences: Theme selection, background images, and display settings
  • Cache Data: Temporarily cached API responses (quotes, weather, currency rates)

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers
  • We do NOT track your browsing history
  • We do NOT collect analytics or usage statistics
  • We do NOT sell or share any data with third parties
  • We do NOT require account creation or login

How Data is Used

All data stored by ApexGrid is used solely to:

  • Provide the dashboard functionality
  • Sync your settings across devices via Chrome Sync (if enabled)
  • Display personalized content based on your preferences

Third-Party Services

ApexGrid connects to external APIs to provide certain features. These services may collect data according to their own privacy policies:

APIs Used:

  1. Quotable.io (https://api.quotable.io)

  2. RSS2JSON (https://api.rss2json.com)

  3. CoinGecko (https://api.coingecko.com)

  4. Open-Meteo (https://api.open-meteo.com)

  5. Picsum Photos (https://picsum.photos)

    • Purpose: Provide random background images
    • Data sent: None (public API)
    • Privacy Policy: https://picsum.photos
  6. TradingView (embedded widgets)

  7. Unsplash (if configured)

Permissions Explained

Storage Permission

  • Why needed: To save your dashboard configuration and sync across devices
  • What we access: Only data created by ApexGrid
  • Your control: You can clear all data from the extension settings

Geolocation Permission

  • Why needed: To automatically detect your location for weather widgets
  • What we access: Your approximate geographic coordinates
  • Your control: You can deny this permission; weather widgets will require manual location entry
  • Data retention: Location is not stored; only used temporarily to fetch weather data

Host Permissions

  • Why needed: To fetch data from external APIs for widget functionality
  • What we access: Only the specific API endpoints listed above
  • Your control: These are required for certain widgets to function

Data Security

  • All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure Storage API
  • No data is transmitted to our servers
  • API calls to third-party services use HTTPS encryption
  • You can delete all stored data at any time from the extension settings

Chrome Sync

If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your browser:

  • Your ApexGrid settings will sync across your devices
  • This sync is handled entirely by Google Chrome
  • Data is encrypted during transmission
  • Refer to Google's Privacy Policy for Chrome Sync: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Children's Privacy

ApexGrid does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension is designed for general audiences and does not require any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of ApexGrid after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Data Deletion

You can delete all data stored by ApexGrid at any time:

  1. Open ApexGrid settings
  2. Click "Reset All Settings" or "Clear All Data"
  3. Or uninstall the extension to remove all stored data
