@JasperHu95 JasperHu95 released this 16 Jul 16:20

Fork of windingwind/zotero-better-notes (based on v3.3.0-beta.4) with a new feature added.

New: Generate note headings from PDF outline

Read a PDF attachment's chapter outline (bookmarks) and insert the chapter titles as note headings — top-level chapters become ##/H2, nested sections descend to ###/H3 … capped at H6. A blank line follows each heading so you can start taking notes right away.

Three ways to use it:

  • In the note editor, type / → Insert PDF Chapter Headings
  • Right-click in the note editor → Insert PDF Chapter Headings
  • In a note template: ${await getPdfHeadings(topItem)} (Markdown headings; pair with // @use-markdown)

Details:

  • Markdown mode inserts ## text; rich-text mode inserts real heading blocks
  • Command label follows Zotero's UI language (English / 中文)
  • Reads the outline via Zotero's built-in PDF reader; opens the PDF in a background tab when no reader is open, then closes it
  • Requires the PDF to ship an outline (bookmarks); otherwise shows a hint and skips
