New features:

  • From this version onward, the firmware can be updated via internet.
  • Added support for APE audio format.
  • Long-pressing a track, album or artist will enter selection mode to select and add multiple tracks to a playlist.
  • Font size can now be changed between normal and large. Settings --> Appearance
  • Added an option to show the total duration or the chapter duration of an audiobook.
  • Added an option to show the artist under the track title. Music --> Settings --> Display options
  • Text files can now be viewed in the File manager.
  • Next and Previous buttons can now be used to change radio stations.
  • Added a quality badge under the titles of radio stations:
    • MP3 under 192kbps --> Orange
    • MP3 192kbps and above --> Green
    • AAC under 160kbps --> Pink
    • AAC 160kbps and above --> Blue
  • Country code is now shown under the radio stations in the search results.
  • Language and genre lists of the radio are now ordered alphabetically.
  • Added A-Z index to country, language and genre lists of the radio.
  • The currently playing radio station is now marked in the lists.
  • The circle play button with its menu is now available inside the list of tracks of an album.
  • Disc and track number are now shown inside the details page.
  • Playlists can now also be imported from the playlist_data folder the stock binary creates.
  • New option for replay gain that automatically changes between per track and per album when shuffle is activated.

Changes and improvements:

  • Gapless playback is now enabled by default.
  • Remap page for the R3 Pro II has been redesigned.
  • MSEB, EQ and PEQ are now faster and lighter.
  • MSEB slider range is now -100/100 by default.
  • The stock launch script has been replaced by sonix_launch lowering RAM consumption by ~1 MB.
  • Cover resizing has been improved.
  • Removed software volume attenuation for 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm outputs.
  • Wi-Fi transfer now correctly stops playback of Tidal, Qobuz, podcasts, radios and audiobooks.
  • Tracks are now correctly ordered by track and disc number. A library rescan is needed.
  • Radio "now playing" text is cleaned up.

Fixes:

  • Fixed radio stations stuttering on Bluetooth headphones.
  • 24 bit 96kHz WAV files do not freeze the player anymore.
  • Fixed an issue where using headphones with inline controls could increase volume erroneously after wake.
  • Long names are now correctly truncated.
  • Fixed a pop in the headphones when the R3 Pro II goes to standby.
