🔍 RepoVet v1.3.0: Multi-Repo Battle Mode, Markdown Exporter & CI Quality Gates

repovet v1.3.0 is here! This milestone delivers head-to-head repository comparisons ("Battle Mode"), GitHub-Flavored Markdown reporting for CI summaries and PRs, and enforceable quality gates for continuous integration workflows.

⚔️ 1. Multi-Repo "Battle Mode" (repovet compare)

Evaluate competing libraries or dependencies side-by-side without cloning:

  • Concurrent Profiling: Concurrently queries GitHub endpoints in-memory for 2+ repositories in parallel.
  • Side-by-Side Matrix: Renders comparative health grades, hygiene scores, commit velocity (30d/90d), bus factor risk, and detected frameworks in a terminal table.
  • Objective Winner Determination: Dynamically ranks repositories based on composite health and declares an authoritative Top Pick highlighting key strengths (velocity, community resilience, open-source standards).
# Compare two or more repositories side-by-side in your terminal:
npx repovet compare facebook/react vuejs/core sveltejs/svelte

v1.2.0: Bus Factor Analysis, Commit Velocity & Composite Health Grades

🔍 RepoVet v1.2.0

Zero-clone, polyglot GitHub repository profiler and adoption vetting tool.

We are thrilled to announce RepoVet v1.2.0! This release brings a major evolution to repository health assessment with automated Bus Factor calculation, commit velocity metrics, and a unified Composite Health Score.

🌟 What's New in v1.2.0

1. 🚌 Bus Factor & Contributor Inequality Analysis

Evaluate community resilience and centralization risk before adopting or contributing to a project:

  • Automated Bus Factor: Calculates the minimum number of top contributors who account for $\ge 50%$ of all repository commits.
  • Risk Categorization: Automatically flags repositories as HEALTHY (4+ core maintainers), MODERATE RISK (2–3 maintainers), or HIGH RISK (single point of failure).
  • Gini Coefficient: Mathematically measures contributor inequality from 0.00 (perfect equality) to 1.00 (single author monopoly).
  • Bot Filtering: Automatically filters out automated CI/bot commit accounts (dependabot[bot], renovate[bot], etc.) to reflect genuine human maintainership.

2. ⚡ Maintenance Activity & Commit Velocity

Track how active a codebase actually is without cloning gigabytes of git history:

  • 52-Week Participation Tracking: Analyzes weekly commit trends via GitHub's participation API.
  • Short & Medium Velocity: Measures exact commit counts across the last 30 days and 90 days.
  • Freshness & Stale Detection: Tracks days since the last push and tags repositories as ACTIVE or STALE (inactive for $\ge 180$ days).

3. 🎯 Weighted Composite Health Scoring Engine

RepoVet now combines all dimensions of repository health into a unified, authoritative Score (0–100) and Letter Grade (A+ through F):

  • Hygiene Standards (40%): Open-source licensing, README, SECURITY.md, CONTRIBUTING, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintenance Activity (35%): Push recency and 30d/90d commit cadence.
  • Community Bus Factor (25%): Contributor breadth, centralization risk, and Gini index.

4. 🏷️ Official Project Rebrand: repovet

  • Renamed project and CLI to repovet (available under dual binary commands: npx repovet and npx repo-vet).
  • Environment token discovery updated to prioritize REPO_VET_TOKEN with backward-compatible fallback to GITHUB_TOKEN.
  • Public SDK exports both vetRepo and auditRepo.

🚀 What's in v1.0.0

The initial release of repo-audit — a zero-clone, polyglot GitHub repository profiler and adoption audit tool built with strict TypeScript and modern developer ergonomics.

✨ Features

  • Zero-Clone Inspection: Analyze repository vital signs and hygiene in seconds without downloading gigabytes of git history.
  • Open Source Hygiene Audit: Evaluates open-source community standards (License, README, SECURITY.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md).
  • Weighted Health Scoring: Transparent calculation producing a 0–100 score and letter grade (A+ through F).
  • Smart ETag Caching: Tracks HTTP ETags so repeated queries consume 0 rate-limit quota.
  • Dual Presentation: Rich ANSI terminal output with visual meters, checklist tables, or machine-readable --json.

📦 Quick Start

```bash
npx repo-audit facebook/react
