Releases: JoakimCarlsson/pandemonium
Release list
v0.6.0
What's new
- Inline edit predictions. Predictions appear as inline and multi-line ghost text while you type, and one key accepts them. They come from a pluggable provider backed by language server inline completions, can use a dedicated prediction server per language, and are set under
edit_predictions. (#53) - Review comments for agents. Leave comments on a session's diff, on a line, a dragged range or a whole hunk, in the review pane and the excerpts pane, then send them all to the session's agent as one prompt. Comments follow their lines as the file changes, are marked Sent afterwards, survive a restart, and the session row shows how many are pending. (#56)
- Extensions. Languages, themes and keymaps load from extension directories without recompiling. Tree-sitter WASM grammars drive detection, highlighting and language servers, extension themes and keymaps show up in settings, and everything reloads at runtime. An invalid extension gets a notice instead of blocking launch. (#52)
- Outline pane. A persistent outline per worktree lists the current file's symbols as a tree, from language server document symbols with syntax declarations as a fallback. Filter it, see the symbol under the cursor highlighted, and jump to declarations. (#55)
- More source control. Stash, amend and cherry-pick from history, with stash pickers, confirmations, operation badges, and controls to continue or abort a conflicted rebase or cherry-pick. (#54)
- Completions and signature help while you type. Function completions and signature help show up automatically as you edit, with signature help above the call.
- An easier workspace to scan. File tree rows carry Git status letters, the file tree header is shorter, status bar counts are compact, and pane controls are labelled on hover.
- Named terminals. Rename a shell from its right-click menu, the palette or F2, so several shells can be told apart. Plain shells and their names come back after a restart. (#81)
Language servers
The client now speaks typed messages throughout, which fills in much of the protocol it used to advertise without handling. (#109)
- Each server's sync kind is honoured, with ranged changes computed off the UI thread, and position encodings are offered where servers look for them.
$/progressshows in the status bar, and clicking it opens the server's log. Stderr, log messages and failed requests go to a per-server log under~/.pandemonium/logs, andwindow/showMessageerrors and warnings become notices.- Completions are sorted and filtered the way the server asks, resolved as you move through them, show documentation beside the list, apply their additional edits in one undo step, and expand snippets with tab stops. Completions from several servers are merged.
- Pull diagnostics are used alongside published ones.
- Workspace edits can create, rename and delete files, with open tabs following along. An edit that would move or delete a file with unsaved changes is refused, and deletes go to the Trash.
- Range and on-type formatting, prepare rename,
willRenameFiles, folds, selection ranges, semantic token deltas, live server settings and a protocol trace. - Install recipes for
tsc,vtsls,pyright-langserverand the ESLint server. Servers that need a runtime the editor cannot install (Java, .NET, Ruby) say what to install.
Fixes
- Codex turns no longer fail with a bare
{"detail":"Bad Request"}after a few pasted screenshots. Pasted images are capped at 2048 pixels on their longest side, and a failed turn shows the agent's recent error output and a way to recover. (#86) - Pasting a file copied in Finder attaches the file itself instead of its icon, and images reach image-capable agents as their original bytes. (#83)
- Session Git line counts refresh when files or Git state change in the worktree.
- A picker opened over a focused terminal keeps the keyboard.

v0.5.0
What's new
- Project-wide search and replace. Search a worktree, including unsaved buffers, in a results pane grouped by file with live excerpts. Replace a single match, a file or every file, with a confirmation before a multi-file replace. Literal and regex search are shared with in-file search, and results are capped at 500 matches. (#48)
- Tasks per project. Build, test and run commands are detected from Cargo, package scripts, Makefiles and Go modules, and you can define your own in
.pandemonium/tasks.yaml. Run, rerun and stop them from the palette. Their output stays in a terminal and their exit status is reported. (#47) - Language servers install themselves. A missing language server can be installed into the editor's home from pinned releases, npm, Go or pip, with checksums checked, and it starts for the files already open. An installation notice, a palette command and an ask/always/never setting control it. (#51)
Debugging
- Conditional breakpoints, hit counts and logpoints, set from breakpoint menus with their own gutter marks. (#50)
- Watch expressions, evaluated on every pause and frame change. (#50)
- Attach to a running process through a process and adapter picker, and leave it running when you disconnect. (#50)
- Debug scenarios wait for a
preLaunchTaskor a Zedbuildtask before starting the adapter. (#47)
Fixes
- Closing an agent's session tab ends the agent and every process it started, so background work no longer outlives its tab, project or window. (#80)

What's new
- Mermaid diagrams. Markdown previews render mermaid diagrams, and you can zoom and pan them. (#65)
- Drop files into the tree. Files dragged in from outside the editor are copied into the file tree.
- Its own icon and a macOS app. pandemonium has its own icon, installed on every platform, and macOS gets an app bundle from
make installand in releases. - Agent options are remembered. An agent's mode and session options carry over to new sessions, per agent CLI. (#82)
- Review view. Changed files have a divider between them, and session-list additions and deletions are coloured green and red. (#74)
- Finish Session measures what is on a remote. It reports only work that is actually at risk, instead of calling pushed work unpushed. (#68)
Language servers
- Servers hear about changes under gitignored paths such as
node_modulesand.venv. (#73) - The handshake no longer sends
didChangebeforeinitialized, and server requests and code action commands are answered correctly. (#72) - Edits are applied only to the buffer version they were asked for, and formatters no longer all run at once. (#71)
- Semantic tokens, inlay hints and code lenses recover from a refused or empty answer, and stale requests are cancelled. (#70)
- A server that dies is restarted, and a session worktree's servers are shut down with it. (#69)
macOS
- Option and Cmd text-editing keys work in the agent prompt, terminals and fields. (#84)
- Cmd+A in the file tree's rename field selects the field's text instead of every file. (#66)
- The file tree drops deleted and renamed files, now that FSEvents flags are no longer read as an event order. (#64)
Fixes
- Paste, copy, cut and select all work in single-line fields: the clone URL, pickers and the search bar. (#85)
- A session can be finished after its worktree was deleted outside the editor. (#87)
- The agent pane scrolls through a pasted message taller than the view instead of clipping it, and has a scrollbar. (#78)
- Repeated Shift+arrow selection in text inputs keeps extending.

Full changelog: v0.3.3...v0.4.0
v0.3.3
A small release on top of 0.3.1, about staging many changes at once without
the window hanging, and tidier branch lists.
Still early and built for an audience of one. Expect rough edges.
What's new
make install. Builds the checkout and installs it as
pandemonium-preview.- Wrapping input boxes. Long lines in multi-line input boxes wrap onto the
next row. - Terminals rewrap on resize. Lines are rewrapped to the new width instead
of being truncated. - Cleaner branch lists. Fetch and pull prune stale remote-tracking
branches, a remote's HEAD is left out of the branch list, and session bases
leave out merged branches and duplicate remote-tracking ones.
Fixes
- Staging a large batch of changes no longer hangs the window. Diff shading is
read in onegit cat-filebatch per repository, untracked files are diffed
in parallel, and staging shows as busy until the review has been read again.

v0.3.1
A small release on top of 0.3.0, about selecting and jumping with the mouse.
Still early and built for an audience of one. Expect rough edges.
What's new
- Shift-click selection. Shift-click selects from the caret to the click.
- Triple click. A triple click selects the text of a line.
Fixes
- A ctrl-click jump is no longer undone by the pointer moving slightly after
the click.

Full changelog: v0.3.0...v0.3.1
v0.3.0
The third release. Most of it is about responsiveness: git, file, picker,
agent, terminal and language server work has moved off the UI thread, so the
window keeps drawing while a large repository or a busy agent does its work.
Still early and built for an audience of one. Expect rough edges.
What's new
- A responsive editor. Session cutting, review reads, branch switches,
file tree moves, pickers and agent file access all run in the background.
Frames present with vsync, offscreen draws are culled, and editor frames
cost what the visible lines cost, not the whole file. - Full markdown in agent replies. Tables are aligned, and CSV fences are
drawn as tables. - Selectable transcripts. Select and copy text in an agent conversation.
- Better text boxes. Select by word, resize them, and scroll them with the
wheel. - More agents. Grok Build is offered as an agent, and settings take custom
agents and extra language servers. - Agents at a glance. The status bar lists agents by standing, and
session titles survive a restart. - Update notice. An update button appears when a newer release is
published. - Project order. Reorder projects in the sidebar by dragging their rows.
- Windows. Agents, language servers and the editor's home are found on
Windows.
Fixes
- Busy agent tabs are no longer marked as unsaved.
- The Source Control change list scrolls with the wheel.
- Hidden windows stop redrawing for the clock.
- Only modified files are written on save.

Full changelog: v0.2.0...v0.3.0
v0.2.0
The second release. Most of it is about the agent conversation: agents now work
through the editor rather than beside it, and a conversation is something you
can point into your code from and click back out of.
Still early and built for an audience of one. Expect rough edges.
What's new
- Agents work through the editor. Commands an agent runs open in terminals
in its worktree, and the files it reads and writes are served from your open
buffers, so unsaved edits are what it sees. - Richer conversations. Attached files are embedded in the prompt, and each
session shows the agent's title, its token usage and the raw input of every
tool call. - Talking about your code. Mention a worktree file with
@, and attach the
selection in an editor to the next prompt. - Clickable links. File links in a conversation open in the editor, limited
to the session's worktree; web addresses open in the browser. - Logging in from the conversation. An agent that needs a login offers it
in place, through its own flow or in a terminal. - Inline conflict resolution. Conflict blocks in a merged file can be
resolved in the editor: keep the current side, the incoming side or both, or
compare the two in a separate pane.
Fixes
- Long agent messages no longer leave the bottom of the pane unpainted.
- The branch picker opens beside its status bar control.
- Modal prompt text wraps inside its card.
- Tabs, view switches and empty panes have defined edges.

v0.1.0
The first release. pandemonium is a GPU-native editor for working with several
coding agents at once: each agent gets its own git worktree, and you review
what it did the same way you review your own working copy.
It is early and built for an audience of one. Expect rough edges.
What's in it
- Projects and sessions. Several repositories open side by side in one
window. Starting a session cuts a fresh worktree and branch for an agent. - Agents over ACP. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot and Cursor,
driven over the Agent Client Protocol, confined to their worktree and asking
permission through the editor. The status bar shows how every agent stands,
and you are notified when one needs you. - Review. A Source Control sidebar, a commit graph, highlighted diffs, and
in-progress merges you can conclude or abort. - Editing. Tree-sitter highlighting and the everyday language server
features, a vim mode bound the way Zed's is, full keymaps for every preset,
and Markdown previews. - Debugging. Breakpoints, call stack, variables and a console over the
Debug Adapter Protocol with gdb, lldb-dap, debugpy or delve, reading your
existing.vscode/launch.jsonor.zed/debug.json. - Everything is a pane. Files, diffs, agent sessions and terminals split,
tab and close the same way.
