Goblins OS 0.2 public preview
Pre-releaseGoblins OS 0.2 public preview
This is the first public preview of the current Goblins OS experience: an open,
AI-native Linux desktop for building local software.
What is in this preview
- A Goblins-first native desktop, installer, boot identity, icons, wallpaper,
login, Settings, and system branding. - Build Studio with project review, file diffs, bounded local preview, logs,
deterministic source export, and static-app OCI packaging. - Image-based OS update, download, apply, reboot, and rollback controls.
- Bluetooth device controls, display configuration through GNOME's native
confirmation flow, keyboard/input controls, gestures, and advanced proxy
settings. - Btrfs/Snapper file recovery on eligible fresh preview installs.
- A public update channel at
ghcr.io/joe-simo/goblins-os:aarch64.
Who this is for
This preview is for exploration, demos, and feedback in a UEFI aarch64
virtual machine. Apple Silicon is a convenient Arm VM host, but Goblins OS is
not installed directly onto a Mac. Intel/AMD x86_64 machines and unverified
bare-metal Arm devices are not supported by this preview.
This is an installable community preview, not the formally signed stable
release. Expect rough edges, keep backups, and do not point the installer at a
disk you cannot afford to erase.
Download and verify
GitHub release assets are split so each file stays within the hosting limit.
- Download every
goblins-os-aarch64.iso.zst.part-*file. - Verify
goblins-os-aarch64.iso.zst.parts.sha256. - Reassemble the parts in numeric order.
- Verify
goblins-os-aarch64.iso.zst.sha256. - Decompress with
zstd --long=31. - Verify
goblins-os-aarch64.iso.sha256. - Boot the ISO in a UEFI aarch64 VM and review the target disk before installing.
The exact source commit, image digest, build run, media hashes, and package
evidence are included with the release assets.

Have fun with it. If you build something interesting—or hit something weird—I
would genuinely like to hear about it.
