@John-ODell John-ODell released this 16 Oct 18:12

Freeciv 3.2.6 for macOS 27 on Apple Silicon, Qt client. First release of the freeciv-macos27 port.

Install

  1. Download Freeciv-3.2.6-arm64.dmg and check it: shasum -a 256 -c Freeciv-3.2.6-arm64.dmg.sha256
  2. Open the DMG and drag Freeciv.app to Applications.
  3. The app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized. On first launch macOS refuses it. Either open System Settings > Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Freeciv.app.

Requires macOS 27.0 or later (the bundled Homebrew libraries are built for 27). Intel Macs are not supported by this build.

What is inside

  • Freeciv 3.2.6 Qt client, server, modpack installer and ruleset editor, self-contained (Qt 6.12, ICU, gettext, SDL2 audio bundled). No Homebrew needed to run it.
  • Built from upstream S3_2 commit 44e6898c plus two local patches (audio link fix for the client targets, FREECIV_LOCALE_PATH environment variable). Freeciv.app/Contents/Resources/SOURCE.txt lists them.

Source

Freeciv is free software under the GNU GPL v2 or later. freeciv-3.2.6-mac1-src.tar.gz is the exact source tree this DMG was built from; the packaging scripts are in this repository. Original Freeciv: https://www.freeciv.org

Known issues

  • Menus, dialogs, trackpad gestures and audio have had only an automated save/load pass, not a full manual one (#3).
  • Clients do not exit cleanly on SIGTERM (#4).
