Mini Update:
Inspired feed back from: @Graves_tech on YouTube. Super hands on with his reviews and even helped keep me up-to-date with the latest in the Android Emulation Scene. You should give him a follow.
New Features
- PSP themes bring their icons. Importing a
.ptftheme now carries over its category icons, memory cards, UMD, camera and settings icons, not just the wallpaper. PlayFieldPortal also picks a matching color for the rest of your icons from the theme's art, and tells you how many icons it brought in when the import finishes. - Pick an icon from your theme. In Customize XMB Icons, Pick now asks where the icon should come from: From the applied theme or From your device. The theme option opens a grid of every icon in your current theme. For PSP themes, a More from this PSP theme section adds icons that don't have a direct match, like TV, Extras, Game Sharing, Internet Radio and more. Works with a controller or by touch, on the device and in Theme Studio.
- Screen orientation setting. Settings › Interface › Display › Screen Orientation lets you lock the launcher to Landscape or have it Follow Device. If your device is in portrait while the launcher is locked to landscape, a "Rotate to landscape" screen appears, with a shortcut to switch launchers.
Improvements
- Your artwork lives in a folder you own. PlayFieldPortal now saves all game art to a folder you choose, so it survives reinstalls and stays easy to back up. Setup asks for it, and if the folder ever becomes unavailable, new art pauses instead of quietly going somewhere else. Art saved inside the app earlier moves into your folder automatically. If you pick a folder that already holds another install's library, you can choose to use it or pick a different folder.
- All Games looks like the other memory cards. The All Games card now uses the Games memory card icon, just like the Music, Video and Photo cards. One icon choice styles every Games memory card. Any custom All Games icon you set before carries over.
- Cleaner console cards. Console memory cards now show the console's name as the title, with "Memory Card · 24 Games" underneath, and "Pinned" when you've pinned them.
- Favorites is part of the Game column. Favorites is no longer a separate category icon. It uses the Favorites card's art in the Game column, and older themes are updated automatically.
- Consistent controls everywhere. Pickers, detail pages, players, the photo viewer, the icon and layout editors, Settings and the setup wizard now share the same layout. There's a back breadcrumb at the top, Search, Done and ⋮ buttons in touch mode, a matching controller guide at the bottom, and only one set of controls on screen at a time.
- Typing stays visible. Text boxes and the color picker now sit above the on-screen keyboard, and shrink to fit when there isn't much room.
- Imported themes wait for your OK. A newly imported PSP theme is saved first, then you confirm before it's applied.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the launcher asking you to relink your artwork folder after a restart, and new art pausing, when the folder's SD card simply hadn't finished mounting yet.
- Fixed games on an SD card or in subfolders being marked Missing after a restart, which needed a manual rescan to bring them back.
- Fixed false "Permission lost, re-select folder" notifications for Music, Photo and Video after a restart. Folders that aren't ready yet are retried quietly, and you're only notified if access is really gone. If you start a scan before the storage is ready, you're told to try again in a moment.
- Fixed library rescans being skipped when a card was inserted while another scan was still running.
- Fixed leftover
.binentries from older scans showing up as missing games. They're now merged into the disc they belong to, keeping your play time, favorites and collections. - Fixed some PSP themes losing their icons when the theme had no wallpaper, and some theme icons that couldn't be read.
- Fixed an XMB row getting stuck mid-animation when you quickly reversed direction in a column.
Action Required
- Choose an artwork folder. If you haven't linked one yet, PlayFieldPortal will ask for it. Until it's set, new artwork is paused.
- Re-import PSP themes for the full icon set. Themes imported before this update only have the wallpaper and won't show the extra icons. Import the
.ptfagain to get them all.
