UniCalculator v1.4.0

A simple offline calculator for Android: Standard, Scientific, and Unit Converter in one app

What's new in 1.4.0

This update brings a brand new History, landscape and tablet support, a new app icon, and a fresh look.

1. New History

History is now bigger, cleaner, and easier to use.

  • Search your past calculations by typing part of the expression or answer.
  • Filter by All, Standard, or Scientific.
  • Pin the calculations you use often. Pinned items sit in a strip at the top, and you can unpin them any time.
  • Grouped by date: Today, Yesterday, This week, and Earlier.
  • Tap a calculation to open quick actions: Use expression, Use result, Copy, or Share.
  • Long-press to select several calculations at once, then pin, copy, share, or delete them together.
  • Swipe right to pin, swipe left to delete.
  • Undo is always available after deleting or clearing.
  • Clear history for Standard only, Scientific only, or everything. You can choose to keep your pinned items.

2. Landscape and tablet support

  • All calculators now fit landscape mode and larger screens, with the display on one side and the keypad on the other.
  • The converter grid shows more categories on wider screens.
  • The top buttons are no longer hidden behind the navigation bar.
  • Rotating your phone no longer resets your calculation.

3. New app icon

  • UniCalculator has a new, modern icon that matches the app's updated colors.
  • It looks sharper on your home screen and adapts to your phone's icon shape.

4. Fresh look

  • Cleaner, softer colors in Dark, Pure Black, and Light themes.
  • Easier-to-read buttons and labels.
  • A new red color for delete and clear actions.

5. Fixes

  • Fixed the History sheet shaking when pulled to full screen.
  • Fixed layout problems on portrait screens.

6. Updating from 1.3.0

Nothing to do. Your saved history carries over, and your old entries will appear as normal (unpinned).

Known limitations

  • History search doesn't support filtering by date yet.
  • History has no size limit yet.
  • On very small landscape windows (such as split-screen), the Scientific keypad may be cut off. Use portrait mode for Scientific in that case.

UniCalculator v1.3.0 – Scientific Mode Fixes & Engine Upgrade 🔬

This update focuses on fixing the scientific calculator, upgrading the standard calculator engine, and polishing the overall experience.

🔬 Scientific Calculator Fixes

  • X/Y/Z buttons now insert lowercase variables (x, y, z) – no more 2X quoting bug.

🧮 Standard Calculator Engine Upgrade

  • Replaced the custom parser with exp4j – a reliable math evaluator.
  • All functions now work correctly: sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, atan, ln, log, exp, abs, sqrt, factorial, and %.
  • Missing parentheses are auto‑closed – sin(30 works just like sin(30).
  • Implicit multiplication (2x, 2(3+4)) works reliably.

🎨 UI & Polish

  • Keyboard flicker fixed – the system keyboard no longer flashes when tapping the input field.
  • Exp4j added to the Credits and Licenses screens (Apache 2.0).

I'm going to release new version 1.2.0, and here’s everything that’s changed.

UniCalculator v1.2.0 – Converter Overhaul & New Features 🔥

This update brings a complete redesign of the Unit Converter, 27 conversion categories, and a ton of bug fixes.

✨ What’s New

📐 Unit Converter – Complete Redesign

  • 27 categories – added 20+ new categories including Data Transfer Rate, Fuel Economy, Radiation (Absorbed & Equivalent Dose), Illuminance, Sound Level, Typography, Blood Glucose, and more.
  • Empty input is truly empty – no placeholder 0 or 1.
  • Custom numeric keypad – with cursor support, thousands separators, and sign toggle.
  • Correct unit abbreviations – e.g., kg, m, °C.
  • Horizontal scrolling for long numbers.
  • Default units – each category opens with the most common conversion pair (e.g., Meter → Foot).
  • New unit picker – compact pill‑shaped dropdown attached directly to the card (no more full‑screen modal).

🧮 Standard Calculator

  • Empty input is truly empty – no placeholder 0 or 1.
  • Error messages for invalid input – no more silent 0.

🔬 Scientific Calculator

  • Exponent display fixed: 5^5 correctly shows as 5⁵ in the "interpreted expression" box.
  • Error handling: invalid expressions show Error.

🐛 Key Bug Fixes

  • Empty input is truly empty – no placeholder 0 or 1.
  • Unit abbreviations wrong → comprehensive symbol map added.
  • Dropdown list not showing all units → now scrollable.
  • Back button on BMI/Shopping exiting app → added BackHandler.

We're excited to announce the v1.1.0 release of UniCalculator!
This update brings a major UI overhaul, new features, improved theming, and dozens of bug fixes to make your calculator experience smoother than ever.

✨ What's New

🎨 Fresh UI & Theming

  • Complete UI refresh – all screens now follow your selected theme (Light, Dark, Pure Black)
  • New Settings screen – with a clean, modern design and segmented controls
  • About & Licenses screens – now fully theme‑aware
  • Custom dropdowns – pill‑shaped, with smooth animations and consistent styling
  • Segmented controls – for theme selection and calculator settings

🧮 Standard Calculator

  • New scientific functions – when expanded, number pad rows are replaced with:
    • Row 2: sin, cos, tan
    • Row 3: sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹, tan⁻¹
    • Row 4: log, ln, exp
    • Row 5: %, |x|, ⌫, =
  • Absolute value support – |x| button inserts | | with cursor inside

  • Complete redesign – input card, swap button, result card, and custom numeric keypad
  • Custom numeric keypad – fully functional with cursor support, decimal point, sign toggle, and clear
  • Live conversion – updates on every keystroke
  • Thousands separators – automatically formatted as you type
  • Smart input handling – initial 1 or cleared 0 is replaced by the first digit
  • Improved unit abbreviations – now shows correct symbols (e.g., "kg", "m", "°C")
  • Horizontal scrolling – long numbers scroll instead of breaking layout
  • System keyboard hidden – only the custom keypad appears (no more accidental keyboard pop‑ups)

🛒 Shopping & BMI

  • BMI Calculator – now fully functional with classification and weight recommendations
  • Shopping Calculator – two tabs: Discount and Unit Price, with live calculation
  • Focus and keyboard – system number keyboard appears on both screens

📜 History

  • Long‑press to copy – long‑press the expression or result to copy individually
  • Improved tap targets – easier to tap and copy

🔧 Settings

  • Theme persistence – your theme choice now survives app restarts
  • Pure Black toggle – disabled in Light mode (only works when Dark mode is active)
  • Clean, modern UI – settings are now grouped by category

🎨 Theming

  • Fixed all hardcoded colors – every screen now respects Dark, Light, and Pure Black modes
  • Consistent colour tokens – across all screens and components
