Catapult 0.1.0 Beta 2 — iOS 14 rootful (experimental)

Experimental build for iOS 14 on a rootful jailbreak (unc0ver, Taurine, checkra1n, Odyssey…). Lots of you asked for it, so here's a first try.

It hasn't been tested on a real iOS 14 phone yet. It's built from the same code as Beta 2 and checked against iOS 14's system files, but nobody has run it. Expect bugs, and keep a way to get out of a bad respring (safe mode, or remove it with Filza/SSH).

Install: download com.johndie.catapult_0.1.0-beta2-ios14exp1_iphoneos-arm.deb below and open it in Filza, or run dpkg -i on it, then respring.

What's different from the iOS 15+ version

• Built for rootful paths (/Library/…, no /var/jb).
• Works on iOS 14.0–14.8 only. It won't install on other versions.
• "Theme icons across iOS" is hidden: it needs iOS 15. Icon themes and shapes on the Home Screen itself still work.

Not supported: iOS 12 and 13 (Catapult is built on parts of iOS that changed too much there).

Found a bug? Open an issue and include your iPhone model, iOS version and jailbreak. A crash log from Settings › Privacy › Analytics helps a lot.

Catapult 0.1.0 Beta 2

Beta 2: Catapult speaks your language.

Catapult now follows the language your iPhone is set to.

• LineageOS's own text (folders, app drawer, layout options) comes in 96 languages, using LineageOS's translations.
• Everything Catapult added (settings, widgets, weather, batteries, search, alerts) comes in 27 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
• Fixed: copying a search answer like 3,5 in countries that use a decimal comma pasted 35. It now copies the right number.
• Weather follows your iPhone's °C / °F setting.

Good to know

• Tested in Simplified Chinese on an iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 16.7).
• The translations of Catapult's own text are new. If a line reads wrong in your language, open an issue with a better wording.
• Arabic and Hebrew: the text is translated, but the layout doesn't flip right to left yet.

Catapult 0.1.0 Beta 1

Beta 1: make your iPhone's Home Screen work like Android's.

Catapult swaps the iOS Home Screen for Trebuchet, the one from LineageOS. Everything else stays iOS.

• An app drawer: every app in one A to Z list. Search also does quick sums, converts units and searches the web.
• A tidier Home Screen: folders open on one page; widgets for the time, weather, your music and your batteries.
• Your look: icon shapes, icon themes and your own font, on the Home Screen or across all of iOS. Emoji stay Apple's.
• Still feels like an iPhone: apps open and close with Apple's own animation.
• Safe to try: if something goes badly wrong, Catapult switches itself off and your normal Home Screen comes back.

Good to know

• Tested on iOS 15.8.6, 16.2, 16.7, 17.5.1 and 18.6.2. Not tried yet: iPads, landscape, and iOS 15 on iPhone XS and newer. Tell me how it goes.
• iOS's own widgets can't go on this Home Screen; Catapult has its own instead.
