Added
- Insert PDF. A new toolbar button beside Insert image: pick a PDF from
your files or from the vault, then import all its pages or a range such as
1-3, 5(in the order you type it). The pages go in after the current
one, with the PDF as their background, and one undo takes them all out.
A PDF already in the vault is used as it is, not copied. This replaces
"Scanned PDF from Files": a PDF from the Files app's Scan Documents goes
in through Insert PDF now. - Drag and drop. Drop pictures or a PDF onto a notebook, from your
computer or from Obsidian's file list. Pictures are placed like Insert
image; a PDF opens the page choice. - New notebook from the file explorer. Right-click (long-press on the
iPad) a folder and choose New notebook to create one there. An optional
New notebook button beside New note and New folder can be turned on in
settings.
Changed
- Exported PDFs keep the original PDF. Pages with a PDF background now
export with the PDF's own text and graphics, sharp and selectable, with
your writing on top. Other pages export as before. - Sharper PDFs. PDF pages are drawn at the screen's full resolution, and
zoomed in past 2.5x the part on screen is drawn again in full detail once
you stop moving, so small print stays crisp and panning stays smooth.
Thanks to @Suzkapu for all of the above
(#5).
Fixed
- PDF pages no longer go blank while zooming. After a zoom, a PDF page
showed as empty white paper until it was drawn again at the new size,
which takes a second or more on an iPad. It now keeps showing the page as
it was until the sharper version is ready. - Smoother writing on older iPads. Before iPadOS 26.2, the iPad rounds
the Pencil's position to a whole screen pixel before Obsidian sees it, so
lines came out wobbly and loops lumpy. FineNotes now smooths the Pencil's
path when its positions arrive rounded, as 1.0.1 did. iPads that report
exact positions draw exactly as before.
