NameQuick 3.0.0

NameQuick 3 is a major update, and it lands differently on each platform. On macOS the app has been rebuilt from the ground up on a new underlying system. On Windows it is the same app you are already running — the version number simply moves from 0.2.5 to 3.0.0 in one step, so both platforms finally share one number.

Either way it is the same app, with the same licence and the same subscription. Nothing to buy again, nothing to re-activate.

macOS: the rebuilt app

• Same licence, same subscription. Self-Managed licence keys are read from the keychain and re-activated on this Mac. Managed subscribers sign in once with the same email address; a trial that is still running keeps its remaining days.
• Your setup comes with you. Presets, watch folders and rules — including each folder's preset binding — are carried across automatically the first time NameQuick 3 opens. Duplicates of the starter presets are skipped rather than doubled. A stored OpenRouter key comes across too.
• The Finder extension and the Services-menu entry are gone. The capability is not: press ⌘⌃S to rename the current Finder selection, or use Rename Selected in the menu-bar icon.
• Rename history does not carry over. Renames made by NameQuick 2 cannot be listed or undone in NameQuick 3. Undo anything you still want to undo before you update.
• Email accounts need re-authorizing. Mail sign-ins cannot be transferred; add the account again under Settings.
• On first launch: macOS may ask once for permission to use your keychain — that is your licence being read across, so allow it. If NameQuick was starting at login, check Login Items once; the old helper is removed as part of the update, and NameQuick 3 tells you if it could not clean the entry up itself. Hotkey and Finder automation permissions stay granted, and if either is refused the app says so on its main screen with a link to the right settings pane instead of failing quietly.
• macOS 11 or later, universal — one download for Apple silicon and Intel.
• NameQuick 2.11.78 stays downloadable as the previous version for a while yet, and keeps working. If you would rather stay on it, it is at https://github.com/JosiMou/NameQuick-Releases/releases/download/v2.11.78/NameQuick-2.11.78.dmg and your licence works in both apps.

Windows: 0.2.5 becomes 3.0.0

Nothing breaks and nothing changes about how the app works. The jump is the version number catching up with the product: one NameQuick, one version line, across Mac and PC. The update installs exactly like every update before it.

Features

• Find duplicates, rebuilt as one screen. The takeover scans the moment it opens, shows every copy inline instead of hiding them behind a second door, puts the groups it could not decide first, and turns into its own receipt when it is done. It remembers the groups you deliberately left alone, names what it is holding back and why, and states the exceptions before it acts — one press keeps a folder in every group that has a copy in it.
• A local engine you do not have to install. NameQuick now brings its own on-device engine: pick it in Settings → AI, download the model once, and renames run on your machine with nothing leaving it. Each platform is offered the one engine that suits it, so there is no roster of sidecars to manage. Files are downloaded once and repaired in place if an earlier build left them half-finished, and an uninstall names the gigabytes before it deletes them.
• Point NameQuick at your own server. Alongside the named providers, Settings → AI accepts any server that speaks the OpenAI chat API: an address, a model name, and a key only if that server wants one.
• A Review lens in All Files, so everything waiting on your decision is one click away from the main list.

Improvements

• Removing a folder takes its waiting files with it, and the dialog says how many before you confirm.
• A quieter rule suggestion. NameQuick offers to make a rule for invoice-like documents only, never for the watch folder itself, and a folder NameQuick filled and later renamed no longer reads as one you filed by hand.
• A refusal that leads somewhere. When the Assistant cannot answer because the local engine is not running, it says exactly that and offers the pane that starts it, rather than blaming your wording. Pressing start actually starts it.
• A first run that ends where it should. The opening screen is a split hero — identity on the left, the three doors on the right — and setup walks the same path every time.
• Sheets behave on small windows. The migration and update sheets scroll their body instead of pushing their buttons off the bottom of the screen.

Fixes

• A model that answers with the wrong extension now has that token replaced, instead of a second extension stacked behind the first.
• Keeping the original name on a file that is no longer on disk retires the row instead of parking a failure no retry could ever cure.
• History rows measure the pane they live in, so names stop being shredded to "Invoice-FL2WM…" and badges to "A" when the Assistant is open beside them.
• Folders that could not be read are named, retried when you come back to the window, and the Retry button is no longer clipped off the bottom of the list.

NameQuick 3.0.0 (Deutsch)

NameQuick 3 ist ein großes Update, und es kommt auf beiden Plattformen unterschiedlich an. Auf dem Mac wurde die App von Grund auf auf einem neuen Unterbau neu gebaut. Unter Windows ist es dieselbe App, die du schon benutzt — die Versionsnummer springt lediglich in einem Schritt von 0.2.5 auf 3.0.0, sodass beide Plattformen endlich dieselbe Nummer tragen.

In beiden Fällen ist es dieselbe App mit derselben Lizenz und demselben Abo. Nichts muss neu gekauft, nichts neu aktiviert werden.

macOS: die neu gebaute App

• Dieselbe Lizenz, dasselbe Abo. Self-Managed-Lizenzschlüssel werden aus dem Schlüsselbund gelesen und auf diesem Mac neu aktiviert. Managed-Abonnenten melden sich einmal mit derselben E-Mail-Adresse an; eine laufende Testphase behält ihre verbleibenden Tage.
• Deine Einrichtung kommt mit. Presets, beobachtete Ordner und Regeln — samt der Preset-Zuordnung jedes Ordners — werden beim ersten Start von NameQuick 3 automatisch übernommen. Doppelte Starter-Presets werden übersprungen statt verdoppelt. Ein gespeicherter OpenRouter-Schlüssel kommt ebenfalls mit.
• Die Finder-Erweiterung und der Eintrag im Dienste-Menü entfallen. Die Funktion nicht: Mit ⌘⌃S benennst du die aktuelle Finder-Auswahl um, oder du nutzt Auswahl umbenennen im Menüleisten-Symbol.
• Der Umbenennungsverlauf wird nicht übernommen. Umbenennungen aus NameQuick 2 lassen sich in NameQuick 3 weder auflisten noch zurücknehmen. Nimm alles zurück, was du zurücknehmen willst, bevor du aktualisierst.
• E-Mail-Konten müssen neu autorisiert werden. Mail-Anmeldungen lassen sich nicht übertragen; füge das Konto in den Einstellungen erneut hinzu.
• Beim ersten Start: macOS fragt eventuell einmal nach Zugriff auf den Schlüsselbund — das ist deine Lizenz, die übernommen wird, also erlaube es. Wenn NameQuick beim Anmelden startete, schau einmal in die Anmeldeobjekte; das alte Hilfsprogramm wird mit dem Update entfernt, und NameQuick 3 sagt dir, falls es den Eintrag nicht selbst aufräumen konnte. Kurzbefehl- und Finder-Automationsrechte bleiben erteilt, und wird eines verweigert, sagt die App das auf dem Hauptbildschirm mit einem Link zum richtigen Einstellungsbereich, statt still zu scheitern.
• macOS 11 oder neuer, universal — ein Download für Apple Silicon und Intel.

Es geht nichts kaputt, und an der Arbeitsweise der App ändert sich nichts. Der Sprung ist die Versionsnummer, die zum Produkt aufschließt: ein NameQuick, eine Versionslinie, auf Mac und PC. Das Update installiert sich genau wie jedes Update davor.

Neu

• Duplikate finden, als ein einziger Bildschirm. Die Ansicht scannt, sobald sie sich öffnet, zeigt jede Kopie direkt in der Liste statt hinter einer zweiten Tür, stellt die Gruppen nach vorn, bei denen sie sich nicht sicher ist, und wird am Ende zu ihrem eigenen Beleg. Sie merkt sich die Gruppen, die du bewusst in Ruhe gelassen hast, benennt, was sie zurückhält und warum, und nennt die Ausnahmen vor der Aktion — ein Druck behält in jeder Gruppe einen Ordner, der eine Kopie enthält.
• Ein lokales Modell, das du nicht installieren musst. NameQuick bringt jetzt seine eigene lokale Engine mit: unter Einstellungen → KI auswählen, das Modell einmal laden, und Umbenennungen laufen auf deinem Rechner, ohne ihn zu verlassen. Jede Plattform bekommt genau die Engine, die zu ihr passt — nichts zu verwalten. Dateien werden einmal geladen und repariert, falls ein älterer Build sie halbfertig hinterlassen hat, und eine Deinstallation nennt die Gigabytes, bevor sie sie löscht.
• Richte NameQuick auf deinen eigenen Server. Neben den benannten Anbietern akzeptiert Einstellungen → KI jeden Server, der die OpenAI-Chat-API spricht: eine Adresse, ein Modellname und ein Schlüssel nur, wenn dieser Server einen will.
• Ein Prüfen-Filter in Allen Dateien, damit alles, was auf deine Entscheidung wartet, einen Klick von der Hauptliste entfernt ist.

Verbesserungen

• Wer einen Ordner entfernt, nimmt dessen wartende Dateien mit — und der Dialog sagt vorher, wie viele es sind.
• Ein leiserer Regelvorschlag. NameQuick bietet eine Regel nur noch für rechnungsartige Dokumente an, nie für den beobachteten Ordner selbst, und ein Ordner, den NameQuick befüllt und später umbenannt hat, gilt nicht mehr als von Hand einsortiert.
• Eine Absage, die weiterführt. Wenn der Assistent nicht antworten kann, weil die lokale Engine nicht läuft, sagt er genau das und öffnet den Bereich, der sie startet, statt deine Formulierung verantwortlich zu machen. Und der Start startet sie wirklich.
• Ein erster Start, der ankommt. Der Einstiegsbildschirm ist ein geteilter Hero — Identität links, die drei Türen rechts — und die Einrichtung geht jedes Mal denselben Weg.
• Dialoge auf kleinen Fenstern. Das Migrations- und das Update-Blatt scrollen ihren Inhalt, statt ihre Knöpfe unten aus dem Bild zu schieben.

Behoben

• Ein Modell, das mit der falschen Endung antwortet, ersetzt diesen Teil jetzt, statt eine zweite Endung hinter die erste zu stapeln.
• „Namen behalten" auf einer Datei, die nicht mehr auf der Platte liegt, schließt die Zeile ab, statt einen Fehler zu parken, den kein Wiederholen je heilen könnte.
• Verlaufszeilen messen den Bereich, in dem sie stehen: Namen werden nicht mehr zu „Invoice-FL2WM…" und Kennzeichen nicht mehr zu „A" zerschnitten, wenn der Assistent daneben offen ist.
• Ordner, die nicht gelesen werden konnten, werden benannt, beim Zurückkehren ins Fenster erneut versucht, und der Wiederholen-Knopf wird unten nicht mehr abgeschnitten.
