All 14 ISLEX editions now run on Linux and Windows, not just macOS.
IcelandicNordic-GoldenDict-v1.0.0.zip is a StarDict build for GoldenDict-ng, generated from the same XML as the macOS bundles. Every edition is in the one zip, with every BÍN-indexed inflected form intact, so selecting hestinum in a text resolves to hestur. GoldenDict's Scan Popup is the direct analogue of macOS Look Up; on Linux/X11 it is arguably better, since merely highlighting a word fires the lookup with no keystroke.
That build path needs nothing but Python 3 — no Dictionary Development Kit, no macOS, and none of the apple.com DTD-fetch flakiness that can abort a 14-bundle make install partway through. It is markedly faster and more reliable, and it runs on Linux directly if you have the ISLEX data there.
Setup is not guessable — read docs/GOLDENDICT.md. StarDict has no stylesheet slot, so article-style.css installs separately (one stylesheet covers all 14, as Nordic.css does on macOS). It also covers grouping fourteen dictionaries so results stay readable, and the Wayland QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb caveat.
Version scheme change. Previous releases tracked the ISLEX data version (v2026.02). Now that the repo ships two platforms and the version describes the build rather than the data, this moves to semantic versioning starting at v1.0.0. The underlying ISLEX release is unchanged — still ISLEX 2026-02.
macOS users: all 14 .dictionary.zip assets are byte-identical to the v2026.02 ones. The dictionary data has not changed — only the new build target.
Everything here is CC BY-SA 4.0, ISLEX and BÍN alike, so the GoldenDict build is publishable on exactly the same terms and carries the same share-alike obligation. See CREDITS.md for BÍN's required verbatim credit line.
The repo was also renamed from icelandic-nordic-dictionary-mac, which stopped being accurate. GitHub redirects the old URLs.
