ISLEX 2026-02 compiled dictionaries

Compiled macOS Dictionary.app bundles built from ISLEX 2026-02, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.

Data: ISLEX — Icelandic-Scandinavian multilingual dictionary (2026-02), edited by
Þórdís Úlfarsdóttir and Halldóra Jónsdóttir, published by
Stofnun Árna Magnússonar í íslenskum fræðum (The Árni Magnússon Institute for
Icelandic Studies), in collaboration with partner institutions in Denmark, Norway,
Sweden, the Faroe Islands and Finland.

License: CC BY-SA 4.0 — you may
share and adapt these files, including commercially, provided you give appropriate
attribution and distribute any derivative under this same license.

Build tooling that produced these bundles is MIT-equivalent (see
LICENSE);

Installing

1. Download the .dictionary.zip for the language pair(s) you want.
2. Unzip it.
3. Move the resulting NAME.dictionary folder into ~/Library/Dictionaries/.
4. Open Dictionary.app → Settings → enable it.

What's included

14 bundles: one Icelandic→Language and one Language→Icelandic dictionary for
each of Danish, Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Swedish, Faroese, and
Finnish, plus two combined "all Nordic languages at once" editions
(IcelandicNordic and NordicIcelandic). Icelandic-headword entries include
BÍN-powered inflection tables (declensions/conjugations) via the islenska
package.
