Vision Assist v1.0.0 (HackYeah 2026)

Vision Assist for HarmonyOS, HackYeah 2026 (Huawei "Imagine What's Next").

What is in this release

• vision-assist-unsigned.hap: release build of the default product, API 20+ (compatible 6.0.0(20), target 6.1.1(24)).
• Built without a cloud key, so it runs fully on the device: Describe surroundings, Find an object (194 on-device classes), Find a word. Cloud search with SAM 3 (keys, any typed object) needs your own Roboflow key, see the README section "Cloud search (optional)".

Install

HarmonyOS only installs signed packages, and a signature is tied to the signer's devices, so sign it for yours:

1. Open the repository in DevEco Studio, File > Project Structure > Signing Configs > "Automatically generate signature" (needs a Huawei ID), then Run on your emulator or phone. Or:
2. Sign this .hap with your own certificate and profile using hap-sign-tool.jar sign-app, then hdc install vision-assist-signed.hap.

Verify

1. Start the app: the home screen shows Describe surroundings, Find an object and Find a word.
2. Find an object > Bottle, point the back camera at a bottle: the status card and speech say where it is ("Bottle in view, on the left", "turn left", "hold steady") until "Bottle is right in front of you, within reach".
3. Turn on the system screen reader: every control is announced and works with double tap.
