⚙️ Performance & Optimization Guide

Antarchy includes client-side optimization mods such as Sodium, Entity Culling, Iris, and Clumps to maintain smooth frame rates during large battles and base construction. Follow this guide to optimize your settings.

🚀 1. Launcher & Memory Settings

  • RAM Allocation: Allocate 6 GB – 8 GB in your launcher settings.
    • Too Little (<4 GB): Stutters and out-of-memory crashes during heavy modded chunk generation.
    • Too Much (>10 GB): Frequent micro-freezes caused by Java Garbage Collection cycles.
  • Java Virtual Machine (JVM): Ensure you are using an updated 64-bit Java 21 runtime.

🖥️ 2. Video Settings (Sodium & Iris UI)

Press EscOptionsVideo Settings to access the Sodium interface[cite: 3]:

Setting Recommended Value Impact
Render Distance 10 – 14 Chunks High CPU & GPU impact; lowering this yields the largest FPS gains.
Simulation Distance 6 – 8 Chunks Offloads entity and tick processing from your client.
Graphics Quality Fast or Fancy Fast disables transparent leaves and simplifies weather particles.
Smooth Lighting Low or Medium Decreases light calculation overhead while preserving visuals.
Entity Distance 75% – 100% Controls how far away mobs, vehicles, and items are rendered.
Max Framerate Match Monitor (e.g., 144 / 165) Prevents your GPU from rendering excess unneeded frames.
Shaders (Iris) Off or Medium Profile Disable shaders if you experience frame drops in busy colonies[cite: 3].

📦 3. In-Game Mod Optimizations

The following client mods run automatically in the background[cite: 3]:

  • Entity Culling: Automatically skips rendering tiles, mobs, and chests hidden behind walls or underground to reduce GPU load[cite: 3].
  • Clumps: Groups nearby XP orbs into single clusters to eliminate entity lag around farms[cite: 3].
  • FastBoot & SmoothJoin: Accelerates loading screens and assets during initial game launch and server connection[cite: 2, 3].
  • Configured: Access client-side config menus in-game by pressing EscMods ➔ selecting a mod to tweak individual visual toggles[cite: 3].

🛠️ 4. Quick Fixes for Common Issues

  • Game using Integrated Graphics (Laptops): Ensure Windows Graphics Settings forces javaw.exe to run in High Performance (Dedicated GPU) mode.
  • Input Lag / Micro-Stutter: In Video SettingsAdvanced, toggle VSync to Off and cap your frame rate just above your monitor refresh rate.
  • Lag in Dense Colonies: Lower your Entity Distance slider to 75% to reduce the rendering overhead of large groups of NPCs and farm animals.
