  • The installation completes without internet access: the service then downloads Sony's original firmware itself once the camera is plugged into a computer that is online (it tries every 10 minutes).
  • The English and the Russian MSI packages upgrade each other (from 1.2.1).
  • Small fixes after review: the subject's sharp zone settles fully under strong smoothing; clearer installer notes.

What's new

Windows background effects. Bokeh is now a Windows camera effect: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Cameras → PS5 Camera → Camera effects → Background effects (standard or portrait blur), and the camera effects of programs that offer them. It switches while streaming.

Picture quality

  • The whole head stays sharp — ears, hair, headphones — while the background behind it is blurred: the sharp zone follows the person's silhouette from depth and is the same depth in centimetres at any distance.
  • Exposure on the person: with bokeh the auto brightness meters the head, so a face against a bright window is lifted and a face lit by the screen in a dark room is not blown out.
  • Noise reduction: averaged over frames and following motion, wider spatial and colour smoothing (default strength 90), noise-aware sharpening (ps5cam-ctl set sharpen 0..100).
  • Automatic anti-flicker: a dim room at 60 fps gets the longer exposure unless lamps flicker.
  • Autofocus locks onto the person at once when a stream starts.

Installer. MSI packages in English and Russian (PS5CameraDriver.msi, PS5CameraDriver-ru.msi) with upgrades that keep the settings and roll back on failure. Unattended: msiexec /i PS5CameraDriver.msi /qn BOKEH=on|off.

Linux (experimental). The same bokeh computed through Vulkan: sudo bash install.sh --bokeh on from PS5CameraDriver-linux.zip installs a daemon that feeds a v4l2loopback camera "PS5 Camera".

Performance (RTX 3060 Ti, 1080p60, live): 2.6 ms of GPU time per frame without effects, 8.6 ms with bokeh, 59 fps; the driver takes ~10% of one CPU core. A graphics card is required; details in the README.

The packages are not code-signed yet (SignPath approval pending), so SmartScreen may warn about an unknown publisher. SHA256SUMS lists the hashes of all files.

Эффекты фона Windows. Боке теперь — эффект камеры Windows: Параметры → Bluetooth и устройства → Камеры → PS5 Camera → Эффекты камеры → Эффекты фона (стандартное или портретное размытие), а также эффекты камеры в программах. Переключается во время потока.

Качество картинки

  • Голова остаётся резкой целиком — уши, волосы, наушники, — а фон за ней размывается: зона резкости идёт по силуэту человека из глубины и одной глубины в сантиметрах на любом расстоянии.
  • Экспозиция по человеку: при боке автояркость меряет голову, поэтому лицо на фоне яркого окна вытягивается, а лицо, освещённое монитором в тёмной комнате, не пересвечивается.
  • Шумоподавление: по нескольким кадрам и с учётом движения, шире пространственное и цветовое сглаживание (сила по умолчанию 90), резкость с порогом по шуму (ps5cam-ctl set sharpen 0..100).
  • Автоматическая защита от мерцания: в тёмной комнате при 60 к/с выдержка длиннее, если лампы не мерцают.
  • Автофокус сразу находит человека в начале потока.

Установщик. Пакеты MSI на английском и русском (PS5CameraDriver.msi, PS5CameraDriver-ru.msi): обновление с сохранением настроек и откатом при ошибке. Без окон: msiexec /i PS5CameraDriver-ru.msi /qn BOKEH=on|off.

Linux (экспериментально). То же боке через Vulkan: sudo bash install.sh --bokeh on из PS5CameraDriver-linux.zip ставит службу, которая отдаёт картинку в камеру v4l2loopback «PS5 Camera».
