SCANsat Planet Pack Config Files
With the release of 0.22, SCANsat is now able to directly reference textures from a planet pack to display in game. Currently, the configs accept a single colour, normal and height .dds texture for each planet, with any transparency being set to fully opaque in the final result. DDS is required for memory mapping as pixels can be accessed from partial file reads; formats like .png require decoding the whole texture and therefore cannot be efficiently mapped to a shader.
The syntax is pretty simple. Each body needs a SCANSAT_BODY_TEXTURES node defined, with relative paths from the GameData directory to each of the required textures. Make sure to reference the planet pack mod name in the NEEDS category to ensure no overlaps with additional configs.
Below is an example from the Sol planet pack for Mercury.
SCANSAT_BODY_TEXTURES:NEEDS[Sol]
{
name = Mercury // Use name of body in Kopernicus
heightMap = Sol-Textures/PluginData/01_Mercury/Kopernicus/Mercury_Height.dds
normalMap = Sol-Textures/PluginData/01_Mercury/Kopernicus/Mercury_Normal.dds
colorMap = Sol-Textures/PluginData/01_Mercury/Kopernicus/Mercury_Color.dds
}
This feature is in beta, so please reach out if your planet pack is defined in a manner incompatible with this structure.
