KYLCORE OS v1.0 (Beta)

A ready-to-use Turkish operating system based on Debian 12, featuring the XFCE desktop environment. It runs live from a USB drive or can be installed to a disk.

⚠️ Beta version. Tested in VirtualBox (live mode and disk installation). Testing on actual hardware has been limited; errors may occur. Back up your important files before installing to a disk. ### Features

• XFCE desktop environment, dark theme, bottom panel, custom boot and login screens
• Install / Live selection at startup (graphical installation wizard: Calamares)
• Internet: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VPN, Bluetooth (NetworkManager)
• Firefox, LibreOffice, VLC, PDF reader, file manager
• Turkish language, keyboard layout, and time zone pre-configured
• System info: "About KYLCORE OS" application and neofetch

Installation

1. Download the KYLCORE-OS-1.0-amd64.iso file
2. Verify the SHA-256 checksum (below)
3. Write to USB using Rufus (DD mode) or balenaEtcher
4. Boot the computer from the USB and select Install or Live

Live mode user: kyl • password: live (changes are not persistent in live mode)

Requirements

• 64-bit (x86_64) processor
• At least 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
• At least 20 GB of free disk space for installation
• You may need to disable Secure Boot if it is enabled

Verification

Windows (PowerShell):

Get-FileHash .\KYLCORE-OS-1.0-amd64.iso -Algorithm SHA256

The resulting value must match the .sha256 file for this version. ### Known limitations

• Wi-Fi/graphics card compatibility may vary depending on the hardware
• Testing on actual hardware is ongoing

KYLCORE OS is based on Debian GNU/Linux. Debian is a registered trademark of Software in the Public Interest, Inc. The software included in the system is covered by its respective licenses (mostly GPL). The build kit is available in this repository.
