LYNX 0.1.4 alpha

LYNX 0.1.4 alpha: a per-user installer with a first-run setup wizard, background plugin scanning, a customizable toolbar, spectral waveforms, sample players on FL Studio's own interpolators, and a large batch of FL Studio plugins rebuilt from their own engines (REA rounds 55–73). Install and first run

• Installer (LYNX-0.1.4-alpha-setup-x64.exe): per user, no admin rights. Installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\LYNX, adds a Start-menu shortcut (desktop shortcut optional), opens .lynx files, offers Open with LYNX for .flp (FL Studio stays the default program) and uninstalls from Apps & features. The portable zip is still there.
• Setup wizard on the first start (later: Options → Setup wizard): language, audio device, plugin folders (the standard VST3/CLAP folders and FL Studio's), scan.
• Plugin scanning in the background: progress in the hint bar, incremental, cancellable, one child process per file so a crashing or hanging plugin is blacklisted instead of taking LYNX down; new plugins are picked up a few seconds after each start.
• FL Studio projects: plugins resolve from LYNX's list or FL Studio's own plugin database, and only the missing files get a targeted scan; samples are relocated from FL's folders, other PC/user paths and the project folder (read-only, see docs/FL_INTEGRATION.md).

Interface

• Customizable toolbar: show, hide and reorder groups, small or large icons, UI scale; panels drop out by priority on narrow windows.
• Spectral waveforms: audio clips, the Sampler and the Browser draw band-coloured waveforms from a background cache.
• Browser rework (tree, preview strip, fold keys) and editor polish: Line/Events snap, drum brush, stretch handle, editable ghost notes, track heights, clip preview, Shift+V clone, scope modes.

FL Studio generators on their exact engines

SimSynth (bit-identical on all installation states) · Plucked! · BeepMap · Sawer · Fruity Granulizer · Drumaxx · DirectWave (bit-identical on all 57 demo programs) · FL Slayer (bit-identical on all 64 presets; its picks and tables are read from your own installation) · FL Keys. Wasp / Wasp XT load as FL Studio 2026 plays them (a silent placeholder; their state is kept), Fruity Dance as a silent channel (it is a visual plugin).

Sample players

Sampler channels and audio clips read samples through FL's own interpolators (24-point sinc while playing, 32-point when exporting, FL's defaults), with FL's volume envelope for sampler channels, FPC's layer choice and Slicex's volume law.

Faster export

Bit-identical speedups in WaveShaper, Fruity Limiter, Reeverb 2 and MiniSynth (same output, less CPU).

Getting started

1. Download LYNX-0.1.4-alpha-setup-x64.exe and run it, or take the portable LYNX-0.1.4-alpha-windows-x64.zip (or just LYNX.exe) and extract it.
2. Run LYNX and open the included Demo.lynx (portable zip) or File → Open.
3. Requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). LYNX is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: click More info → Run anyway.

• FL-style layout: new main toolbar, shared editor title bars, window menus, workspace desktop with the Channel Rack as a pop-up and floating panels over the Playlist.
• Hint bar with mouse/key glyphs and live values while you drag a knob or fader.
• Mouse feel: Piano Roll and Playlist tools, clip edges, slip/trim, time selection, ripple, knife, inline automation.
• Channel Rack multi-select, move, clone, send to free inserts; compact Mixer strips with peak hold and a routing lane; effect slot reordering, A/B compare and presets.
• Note tools (strum, arpeggiate, flip, limit, randomise, scale levels), scale snap, zoom presets, step graph lanes, fills.
• Recording: count-in, wait for input, overdub/replace, record quantise, per-insert arm.
• Browser search, quick-add palette, undo history panel, shortcut sheet, splash screen, redrawn icon set.
• Português (Brasil): switch in Options → Language (or --lang pt-BR). English stays the default.
• Windows: .lynx files open in LYNX with their own icon.

LYNX 0.1.2 alpha: more FL Studio plugins rebuilt from their own engines, each checked against FL's DLLs.

FL Studio generators

• Sakura: physical string model (exciter, 4 string loops, combs) with its modulation matrix, envelope, LFO, resonators, chorus, reverb and delay.
• Drumpad: physical drum model (mallet, 512-lane comb bank, filters, hold, lo-fi).
• BooBass: FL's engine. Its multisample is read at run time from your own FL installation; LYNX never ships it. The DLL's SHA-256 is checked first.
• Toxic Biohazard: FL's 4-pole ladder filter.
• Kepler: Chorus I / II / I+II.
• Ogun: each partial decays at its own rate, and ALT DECAY works.
• Harmless: stereo tremolo and vibrato.

FL Studio effects

• Effector: the Filter, Flanger and Phaser match FL's engine within 6·10⁻⁸; Reverb uses FL's decay time.
• Fruity Squeeze and Vintage Phaser: now exact effects.
• Love Philter: FL's pan law, pan-LFO tension and pulse curves.

Engine

• Synth: evolving per-harmonic spectra, a 4-pole ladder filter and a vintage chorus.
• Plugin-model channels get their own knob panels.

LYNX 0.1.1 alpha

LYNX 0.1.1 alpha — a stability fix, ASIO drivers and a round of closer FL Studio imports.

Fixed

• Random crash while exporting or playing (about 1 in 10 exports): a race in the mixer's worker threads could run one track twice and let a block finish while a job was still running. The thread pool now hands out generation-tagged tickets.
• Crash backtraces are written to %APPDATA%\LYNX\autosave in every mode.

New

• ASIO audio drivers (Steinberg ASIO SDK, GPLv3 option), next to Windows Audio and DirectSound. LYNX.exe --devicetest "ASIO" "<driver>" report.txt checks a driver silently.
• Vocoder side inputs: modulator and carrier from other mixer tracks ("Modulator from" / "Carrier from").
• Evolving spectrum: each harmonic of the spectral oscillator can decay at its own rate.

FL Studio import

• Ogun: exact spectrum of its timbre engine, now with each partial's own decay.
• Harmor: resonance (type tables and resonance mask) as a filter peak.
• Sytrus: harmonic carriers join the main carrier's exact spectrum (190 of 268 demo channels exact).
• Vocodex: converted to the vocoder with its two side inputs.
• Love Philter: cutoff/resonance envelopes and LFOs in every unit.
• VST3 automation follows FL's persistent parameter slots; plugins installed as both VST3 and CLAP now match the format FL used.

LYNX 0.1.0 alpha

First public release of LYNX — a lightweight DAW in C++20/JUCE with the FL Studio workflow.

Important

Alpha release: it already opens, plays and exports whole projects, but it is not yet a daily-driver DAW. Bug reports are very welcome in Issues.
