v2.7.0 - Radon Sensor Support
What's New
Radon Sensor Support
- Radon monitoring with auto-detection of pCi/L (US) and Bq/m³ (international) units
- Advisory banner - a new UI element that appears below the main recommendation when radon is elevated, with three tiers:
- Info (approaching EPA action level)
- Warning (above EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L / 148 Bq/m³)
- Danger (significantly elevated, professional mitigation needed)
- Color thresholds based on EPA and WHO guidelines
- Overall status impact at EPA action level and above
- Graph with history tracking radon levels over time
- Visual editor integration in the Additional Sensors section
- Unit override option in Advanced settings (auto / pCi/L / Bq/m³)
Design Decision: Separate Advisory System
Radon is fundamentally different from other air quality pollutants. CO, CO2, and PM change in minutes to hours and can be addressed with immediate actions ("open window", "run purifier"). Radon changes over days to weeks and requires professional mitigation (sub-slab depressurization, sealed sump pits). Mixing these time horizons in the same recommendation waterfall would confuse users, so radon uses its own advisory banner instead.
No Outdoor Radon
Radon comes from soil and building materials, not outdoor air. An outdoor radon sensor would not inform any meaningful decision, so radon intentionally has no outdoor variant.
Tested With
- Airthings Wave / Wave Plus (pCi/L and Bq/m³)
- 195 unit tests passing (25 new radon-specific tests)
