变化

  • 提示词小了很多：
    • 模型目录打开了 Codex 的 tool_search（官方模型目录也是这样设的）。ChatGPT 登录带上的应用（GitHub、Gmail……）
      和你配的 MCP 服务器，它们的工具不再每个请求全部写进提示词，模型要用时先搜再调用。开着应用时，
      每个请求桥接写给后端的提示词从约 30 万字符降到约 3.3 万（桌面版约 34 万降到约 4.9 万）。
    • 桌面版自带的 codex_app 工具（31 个）和直接发来的插件 / MCP 工具只写摘要和参数类型；模型传错参数时，
      桥接把完整定义连同错误原因告诉它。没开应用的桌面版每个请求约 6.6 万字符降到约 4.6 万。
    • 工具定义里只给校验程序看的字段不再写进提示词，目录后面的提醒不再重复列出所有工具名。
    • Excel 后端自带的约 2.2 万 token 前缀由后端加，桥接去不掉。
  • 详见 README 的提示词大小。
  • 菜单里没有 ultra：0.5.20 的 ultra 要桥接重写模型目录后才出现。还在跑旧版桥接的（比如自己装成服务的），
    升级到这一版并重启桥接，再完全退出 Codex 重新打开。桌面版通过 SSH 连另一台机器时，还要在那台机器上运行
    codex app-server daemon restart：那里常驻的 app-server 只在启动时读一次模型目录。README 的
    Ultra 写明了。

0.5.13 起双击 excel-codex-desktop.cmd 会自动装上这一版；0.5.12 及更早的版本需要手动下载替换一次。

Changes

  • A much smaller prompt:
    • The model entries turn on Codex's tool_search (as OpenAI's own entries do). The tools of the apps
      a ChatGPT sign-in brings along (GitHub, Gmail, ...) and of your MCP servers no longer go into every
      request in full; the model searches for one when it needs it, then calls it. With apps on, the
      prompt the bridge writes for the backend drops from about 300k characters to about 33k per request
      (desktop: about 340k to about 49k).
    • The desktop app's own codex_app tools (31 of them) and plugin or MCP tools sent directly are
      summarized, with each parameter's type; when the model passes the wrong parameters, the bridge
      tells it why along with the full definition. The desktop app without apps drops from about 66k
      characters to about 46k per request.
    • Fields in tool definitions that only a validator reads are left out, and the reminder after the
      catalog no longer lists every tool name again.
    • The ~22k-token prefix the Excel backend adds itself cannot be removed by the bridge.

  • No ultra in the menu: 0.5.20's ultra appears once the bridge rewrites its model entries. If an
    older bridge is still running (one installed as a service, say), update it to this release and
    restart it, then quit Codex fully and open it again. When the desktop app connects to another
    machine over SSH, also run codex app-server daemon restart there: the app-server that stays
    running there reads the model entries only when it starts. See
    Ultra in the README.

From 0.5.13, double-clicking excel-codex-desktop.cmd installs this release by itself; 0.5.12 and
earlier need it downloaded and replaced by hand once.

变化

  • 模型菜单里多了 Codex 的 ultra：gpt-5.6-sol、gpt-5.6-terra、gpt-6-sol、gpt-6-astra（含 1M 版）可以选，
    luna 模型和官方一样没有。选了 ultra，Codex 会主动把任务拆给子代理并行做；发给 Excel 后端的推理强度是
    xhigh（后端最高到 xhigh，官方 gpt-6-astra 的 ultra 发的也是它）。每个子代理都单独请求后端，额度用得更多。
  • 这些模型的新对话改用多代理 v2（collaboration.* 工具，和官方一样）；已有的对话不变。
  • 配置里的 max，或者别的客户端直接发来的 max / ultra，改按 xhigh 发（以前会落回默认的 medium）。
  • Codex 的 Fast 用不了：Excel 后端不认 service_tier，带上就返回 HTTP 422。README 里写明了。
  • 详见 README 的 Ultra。升级后要完全退出 Codex 再打开，
    菜单里才会出现 ultra。

Changes

  • Codex's ultra in the model menu: for gpt-5.6-sol, gpt-5.6-terra, gpt-6-sol and gpt-6-astra
    (1M versions too); as with OpenAI's own, the luna models do not have it. With ultra, Codex hands parts
    of the task to subagents working in parallel without being asked, and the Excel backend is asked for
    xhigh (the deepest it has; OpenAI's gpt-6-astra sends it for ultra too). Each subagent makes its own
    requests, so it uses more of your plan.
  • New conversations with these models use multi-agent v2 (the collaboration.* tools, as OpenAI's
    own do); existing conversations stay as they are.
  • max in the config, or max / ultra sent by another client, now goes to the backend as xhigh
    (it used to fall back to the default medium).
  • Codex's Fast is not available: the Excel backend does not know service_tier and answers HTTP 422
    when it is sent. The README says so now.
  • See Ultra in the
    README. After updating, quit Codex fully and open it again to see ultra in the menu.

Notes

  • Packages include bilingual SUB2API deployment guides.
  • macOS support is still experimental: reading the sign-in from a real Mac Excel has not been
    verified on hardware yet; feedback welcome.

    .sha256 files next to them.

  • 新增 excel-codex-restore.cmd（macOS / Linux：excel-codex-restore.command，命令行：excel-codex restore），
    双击就让 Codex 回到官方配置    ：撤掉 excel-codex desktop 写进 config.toml 的内容（窗口被强制关掉、
    没来得及还原时也管用），把手动粘贴的桥接设置（print-config 片段、model_provider = "excel-bridge"、
    -excel 模型名、桥接的模型列表、指向本机桥接的 openai_base_url）注释掉并先备份原文件；Codex 登录过时
    把桥接自己名下的对话并进官方列表；Windows 上把系统时区改回去。它不联网、不启动桥接；中转站等不是桥接的设置
    不会动，只在窗口里列出来。

  • New: excel-codex-restore.cmd (macOS / Linux: excel-codex-restore.command; command line:
    excel-codex restore) puts Codex back on its own setup with a double-click    : it takes out what
    excel-codex desktop wrote into config.toml (also when its window was killed before it could put
    the config back), comments out the bridge's settings pasted in by hand (a print-config snippet,
    model_provider = "excel-bridge", -excel model names, the bridge's model list, an
    openai_base_url pointing at a local bridge) after saving the file as it was, moves the bridge's
    own conversations into Codex's list when Codex is signed in, and on Windows puts the system timezone
    back. It goes online for nothing and starts no bridge; settings that are not the bridge's, such as a
    relay's, stay as they are and are only listed.

  • 不再在回复开始一两分钟后报 The Excel backend closed the connection N minutes into the answer：模型先思考、
    一个字还没写出来时，连接上可能几分钟都没有数据，不少代理节点和路由器会把这样的连接当作闲置关掉（有的 1 分钟
    就关），后端又没办法接着上次的回答往下发，Codex 只能从头重发，还可能在同样的地方再被断开。现在桥接和后端之间
    改用 HTTP/2，回复进行中每 10 秒在连接上发一个 PING（后端会回应），路上的每一段都能看到连接还在用。
    EXCEL_BRIDGE_UPSTREAM_PING=<秒> 可改间隔（1–60），0 不发 PING 并改回 HTTP/1.1。

  • No more The Excel backend closed the connection N minutes into the answer a minute or two into an
    answer    : while the model thinks, before it writes a word, the connection can carry nothing for
    minutes, and many proxy nodes and routers close such a connection as idle (some after a minute). The
    backend cannot carry on with that answer, so Codex started over, at times only to be cut off at the
    same point again. The bridge now talks HTTP/2 to the backend and, while an answer is coming, sends a
    PING on the connection every 10 seconds (the backend answers it), so every hop on the way sees it in
    use. EXCEL_BRIDGE_UPSTREAM_PING=<seconds> sets the interval (1 to 60); 0 sends none and goes
    back to HTTP/1.1.

  • 回复中途断开时，Codex 显示原因，不再只报 stream closed before response.completed：Excel 后端有时回复
    到一半就断开连接（桥接窗口里是 upstream stream ended abnormally: RemoteProtocolError），有时断开前还用
    Codex 不认的方式报了一个错。以前 Codex 只知道流断了，报
    stream disconnected before completion: stream closed before response.completed 并反复重发，原因看不到；
    对话超出上下文窗口这种重发也没用的错误，也会一直重发。现在桥接把原因转给 Codex：后端报了错就显示那个错，
    超出上下文窗口时 Codex 会提示上下文已满、发下一条消息时先自动压缩；后端什么也没说就断开，就显示是回复
    开始几秒后断开的、怎么断开的，Codex 照常自动重发。桥接窗口里会记下断开前收到了多少事件、最后一个是什么。

  • Codex says why an answer broke off instead of just stream closed before response.completed: the
    Excel backend at times closes the connection mid-answer (the bridge window shows
    upstream stream ended abnormally: RemoteProtocolError), sometimes after reporting an error in a way
    Codex ignores. Codex saw only that the stream broke, failed with
    stream disconnected before completion: stream closed before response.completed and sent the request
    again and again without saying why, even for an error no retry fixes, such as a conversation past the
    context window. Now the bridge passes the reason on: an error the backend reported shows as such (past
    the context window, Codex says the context is full and compacts it before the next message), and a
    connection closed without a word shows how many seconds into the answer and how it closed, with Codex
    retrying by itself as before. The bridge window notes how many events arrived first and the last one.
  • A rate limit the backend reports in an error event is now waited out like the others since 0.5.8.

  • No more idle timeout waiting for SSE while a long conversation is compacted, the model writes a
    long tool call, or the backend is slow to start answering    : Codex takes five minutes without any data
    as a broken connection, shows "Reconnecting x/5" and sends the request again, which waits five minutes of
    its own, and in the end fails with stream disconnected before completion: idle timeout waiting for SSE.
    The bridge told Codex every 15 seconds that the answer was still going only while the model thought; for
    a compaction (which declares no tools), a tool call it holds back until whole, and a backend yet to start
    answering, it sent nothing. Now it tells Codex then too.

  • Why the model menu is an old one after an update now shows: the desktop app reads the model
    list only when it starts, so one never fully quit from the tray keeps an older release's models
    after an update (0.5.1 and earlier, for instance, list only 5.6-Sol, 6-Astra, 5.6-Terra and
    5.6-Luna, without 6-Sol, 6-Luna and the 1M versions). The bridge window now says to quit it from the
    tray and open it again when it starts while it sees Codex running, and its
    now use the Excel bridge 0.5.15 line names the release it runs, which shows at a glance when an old

  • Fully manual use (serve plus print-config) gets the new model list after an update: serve
    did not update the model list file the print-config lines point at, so the menu stayed at the

  • Fixed exec is not a tool in the catalog: when Codex reaches the bridge (SUB2API included)
    through a relay's Codex config template, Cockpit Tools or a provider of your own, it uses its own
    settings for gpt-5.6 / gpt-6: the tools go in an additional_tools input item (Responses Lite), and
    the model gets only code mode's exec and wait. The bridge did not read those tools, so every call
    failed; it now reads the tools and instructions from that item, and the model calls the shell and the
    other tools from JavaScript in exec. See

    in the README.
  • Clearer notes when a call fails: calling a tool such as exec_command directly in code mode says to
    go through exec; calling exec, as its history did, in a conversation begun in the official code
    mode and carried on with the bridge's model catalog says to call the catalog's tools directly.

    checks for a newer release; if there is one, it downloads it, checks it against the SHA-256 GitHub's
    API lists, unpacks it into .update inside the install folder and runs the new version once to make
    sure it starts, then swaps the files in once the current program has exited and opens the new
    version. The window shows the download's progress; Esc skips it this time. When the download fails,
    the checksum does not match, the new version does not start, or excel-codex from the same folder is
    still running, the current version opens as usual and its files are left alone. See

  • New excel-codex update: in the release zip it downloads the update ahead of time, to be installed
    the next time excel-codex-desktop.cmd starts; elsewhere it says how to update.

    任务标成“加密内容”，Excel 后端解不开。现在每个调用都注明是明文；老会话里已经被误标的消息，发给后端前还原成

  • 老会话的工具调用不再越错越多：桥接记不起原始调用时（重启后，SUB2API 多人共用时更常见）重建的调用丢了
    collaboration. 前缀；模型没转换成功的 run_officejs 调用回放时又被包一层。模型照着历史学，就越来越常出错。
    现在重建时保留完整工具名，没转换成功的调用原样回放，并告诉模型具体错在哪里，不再只是一句“格式不对”。
  • 真正由别的后端加密的内容，后端报错时桥接换成一句说明再发一次（以前只处理推理内容）。

Changes

  • Subagents no longer fail with "encrypted content could not be decoded": the calls the bridge
    passed on did not say their arguments were plain text, so Codex (multi-agent v2) labelled the task
    it gave a subagent as encrypted content, which the Excel backend cannot decrypt. Every call now says
    so; messages an older conversation has already labelled encrypted go to the backend as text again,
    no new conversation needed.
  • Tool calls in older conversations no longer fail more and more: a call the bridge had to rebuild
    because it could not recall the original (after a restart, and more often under SUB2API with many
    users) lost its collaboration. prefix, and a run_officejs call the model got wrong was wrapped in
    another one when replayed. The model copies its history, so it went wrong more and more often. A
    rebuilt call now keeps the tool's full name, and a call that could not be converted is replayed as it
    was, with the model told what exactly was wrong rather than just that the format was.
  • What another backend really encrypted is replaced with a note when the backend fails on it, and the
    request sent again (reasoning only, before).
  • A new end-to-end check with a subagent (Windows, macOS and Linux, the desktop app too).
