Releases: KawaiiBunga/Melee-NX
Release list
0.2.0 - Beta
0.2.0 - Beta
This is an Early Beta Release, expect some bugs, issues, and performance quirks. CPU overclocking is still recommended for the best experience; GPU/memory overclocking give little benefit. This release focuses on controller support, quality-of-life fixes, and under-the-hood performance work on top of 0.1.0.
What's New Since 0.1.0
Controller & Input
Remaps now persist — control remaps made in the port menu survive a restart (previously wiped on every boot).
Z can bind to the triggers — the GameCube Z button (and any button) can now be mapped to ZL/ZR, which the system reports as analog triggers rather than buttons.
Sideways single Joy-Con support — play single-player or multiplayer with one Joy-Con held sideways; SL/SR fold to L/R automatically.*
Boot & Files
ISO-free boot — once you've booted once with the disc image present to extract, you can delete the ISO and the game boots straight from the extracted files/ folder. (Boot once with the disc to capture, then it's safe to remove.)
Under the Hood
Shader pipeline and logging improvements, plus additional performance work carried over from the 0.1.0 baseline.
New app icon and version bump to 0.2.0.
Setup
- Create /switch/melee-nx on your SD card.
- Place melee.nro and your Melee disc image (NTSC-U 1.02, GALE01) in that folder.
- Launch via Sphaira or the Homebrew Menu using app override.
- On first boot, choose extraction or disc play (extraction recommended for faster loading).
- After the first successful boot, the ISO can be removed.
Open the port menu with – + R3 to adjust controls, upscaling, and other settings.
Known Issues
- Async shader compilation still causes brief texture/model gaps on first appearance. Shaders do properly save now so the more you play, the better performance should be.
- General performance is still a work in progress.
- Boot and load times are slow without CPU overclocking. Expect to wait up to 20-30 seconds for initial boot without overclocks.
- Single sideways joycon support is still an early WIP. While it does technically work, expect to spend a little time setting it up and some quirks along the way.
As always, if you find any bugs, issues, or have any suggestions, feel free to open an issue or dm me directly @ kawaii.bunga on Discord.
0.1.0 - Beta
This is the first beta release of melee-nx!
Please expect some bugs, issues, and performance issues.
As well, expect to have to OC CPU for best performance right now. GPU OC won't really help, Memory OC will help a little.
If you are looking for a flawless experience, this release isn't it! Give it some time and let me cook.
To setup:
- Create a folder on your sd card @ /switch/melee-nx
- Put the melee.nro and your Melee disc image (.iso) (NTSC-U 1.02, GALE01, SHA-1: d4e70c064cc714ba8400a849cf299dbd1aa326fc) into that folder
- Boot melee-nx from either Sphaira, or the full-memory Homebrew Menu using app override (Hold R while opening a game)
- Upon first boot, the game will request you to extract the game .ISO, or play from the disc. It is highly reccomended to extract the data vs playing from disc as boot and loading times are much better
- After the game boots, you should then be safe to remove the .ISO from your sd card*
Once in-game, you can use - and R3 at the same time on your controller to open the port menu and change settings like controls, upscaling, and more.
- There was a previous issue I had where it wouldn't actually extract the disc headers and would require you to leave the game file on your SD Card. This should be fixed, but if you remove the .ISO and the game no longer boots, just put it back on the SD card for now and open an Issue or message me on Discord @ kawaii.bunga.
Known Bugs
- Async shader compilation happens, which can lead to new stages or levels or characters to show missing textures or models until that shader compiles
- Lots of performance issues almost all around
- Boot times and loads may be slow without CPU OC
