Tolmach 3.0

Tolmach 3.0 is a local-first book translation workflow built around Ollama. Upload a TXT or EPUB, prepare a document-specific glossary, create a draft, run guarded refinement, review aligned source/draft/final chunks, and export the result as TXT, PDF, or EPUB.

What is included

  • A three-stage workflow: Prepare → Start → Continue.
  • Document-scoped glossary preparation with editable terminology modes.
  • Optional frontier glossary verification with review-before-apply changes.
  • Located refinement patches checked by a separate verifier.
  • Review desk with actionable fixes, direct editing, alternatives, and saved final text.
  • Document-level and model-based quality checks.
  • Persistent jobs, aligned chunks, glossary drafts, review state, and translation cache.
  • Updated browser UI, Settings, Guide, and live Log pages.
  • Cross-platform launch.py bootstrap plus a macOS/Linux user installer.
  • New proof-first README and a 20-second GIF demonstration.

Validation

  • 193 model-free tests pass.
  • Ruff 0.12.2 passes.
  • ShellCheck and shell syntax checks pass for install.sh.
  • Application import and terminal banner checks pass.

See the README for requirements, the exact launch command, supported languages, and current limitations.
