After thousands of wipes, a new version of the Pebble Wiper has been created!

There are five major improvements in this version:

  1. PW V2 no longer deposits the pebbles onto a brass brad. Instead, filament is extruded onto a flat purging platform covered with a metallic strip.
  2. A more expensive, but much higher performance servo was tested and found to be far more capable and reliable. I would classify this change as the greatest performance improvement versus V1.
  3. With the new servo, a new metal wiping arm was tested and proved to yield better results.
  4. The silicone wiping brush was moved slightly into the path of the wiping arm. This ensures that stuck filament will not be dragged back onto the purging platform where it could become a booger on the nozzle, and then be deposited onto your model.
  5. Integrating with either René Jurack or Greg Holloway's Height Adjustable Brush systems, the Pebble Wiper can now be used on machines with tools of varying height offsets.

I have included SLDPRT, STEP, and STL files for regular and Height Adjustable Brush E3D Tool Changers using both servos, as well as a blank Pebble Wiper V2 with only the function critical sections of the design so you can integrate the system into your own machine! As a bonus, I have also thrown in the dock wipers I use for my E3D Tool Changer.

Also included are the important lines of system code (config.g, homea.g) and the macro I use for the wiping!

BOM for Pebble Wiper V2:
Printed PW V2 (I recommend printing in Polycarbonate, but other materials may work just as well, depending on your use case)
Servo (I recommend the KST DS215MG, a servo lead extension may be required)
Silicone Brush
Adhesive Backed Metallic Strip
*Optional: Metal Servo Arm

BOM for Height Adjustable Pebble Wiper V2:
Printed PW V2 (I recommend printing in Polycarbonate, but other materials may work just as well, depending on your use case)
Printed Height Adjustable Brush Motor Mount
Servo (I recommend the KST DS215MG, a servo lead extension may be required)
Nema 17 Stepper Motor with 130mm Integrated Lead Screw and Trapezoidal Nut (I used the Z stepper and nut from a Prusa i3)
100mm LML12B Linear Rail + Carriage
Silicone Brush
Adhesive Backed Metallic Strip
*Optional: Metal Servo Arm

For the metallic strip any adhesive backed metallic foil should work, such as HVAC foil tape.
