OptiScaler-GUI 2026.8.0 — first stable release 🎉
After three weeks of beta with zero reported issues, the Rust app is now stable and the recommended download. One portable exe (~7 MB), no installation, no data collection.

⬆ One-click app updates
The sidebar update badge is now a button: click Update to vX, the new exe downloads with progress, is verified against the release's SHA256 checksums (an unverified executable is never applied), then one click restarts into the new version.
🔄 Automatic OptiScaler updates (opt-in)
New setting: Update OptiScaler automatically. When enabled, games with an outdated OptiScaler install are updated at startup — your OptiScaler.ini is backed up first, as always. Off by default.
⌨ Overlay hotkey hint
OptiScaler's in-game overlay opens with Insert — but on non-US keyboard layouts (Danish, German, …) it's Alt+Insert, a frequent "overlay doesn't work" trap. The app now detects your keyboard layout and shows the correct hotkey next to the Play buttons.
🛡 Security hardening pass
A dedicated audit of the install/uninstall pipeline: stricter path-containment guards, zip-slip validation of release archives before extraction, dependency vulnerability scan. Details in the audit PR.
✅ OptiScaler v0.9.4 verified
Fully compatible with the latest OptiScaler (FSR 4.1.1 / INT8). The new Fsr4ForceEnableInt8 and Fsr4Preset options appear automatically in the INI editor. Tip: enable Fsr4EnableWatermark to verify which upscaler model is actually running.
