LanternDrop 1.0.0 is the first stable release for direct file and text transfer between a Windows PC and a phone on the same trusted private network. Scan the QR code and transfer through the phone browser—no phone app, account, cloud storage, or telemetry.

Basic usage
- Choose Send from this PC or Receive on this PC.
- Select the content or destination and the trusted private-network adapter.
- Start the temporary session, scan the QR code, and transfer through the phone browser.
Security and platform notes
- Use LanternDrop only on a trusted home LAN or personal hotspot. Public Wi-Fi is not recommended.
- Transfer traffic uses local HTTP and is not encrypted or end-to-end encrypted.
- The executable is not code-signed, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a warning.
- Windows Firewall may ask whether to allow LanternDrop on Private networks.
- Windows 11 x64 is the primary target.
- LanternDrop has not received an external security audit.
- Automatic download or self-installation of updates is not included.
