v2.1.0
Highlights
Community chapters
- A book matched to the community database is checked against its recording's chapter list. The list is fitted onto your own audio: each chapter is placed by its title and time, then snapped to the pause it starts in, so trimmed intros, a missing preview and drift across the book still line up.
- A book with no chapters of its own (none, or one per file) gets the community's automatically. A book with only broad chapters is offered the detailed ones on its Chapters card, and Health lists them under "More detailed chapters available". When a list doesn't fit (another edition, a chapter crossing two files), the card says why.
- Players show "Chapters from the AudioSilo community database" under such a book's chapters.
Books in more than one series
- A book can be in several series: Guards! Guards! is Discworld #8 and City Watch #1. Edit the extra series under "Other series" on the book's Details card; community matches fill them in.
- In the admin console, a series' grid and table number each book by its place in that series, and a book's byline lists every series.
- The web player (and the apps' next update) shows a book on each of its series' pages, numbered there, and the book page lists every series.
People and sorting
- Co-credits count for each person: "Michael Kramer, Kate Reading" is two narrators, in the admin lists and the players' Authors and Narrators.
- Library > Books sorts by Release date and Author surname. A list filtered to one author opens in release order. Release dates now also come from the files' date tags (as a fallback: a community match's first-publication date wins).
Also new
- Series spines in their covers' colours: the admin Series shelf colours each spine from its cover and sizes it by the book's length. Colours are read in the background, so a library nobody has browsed isn't patchy.
- Clear community matches (Settings > Community metadata > Danger zone): undoes every community match in a library, or all of them, so the books can be matched from fresh. Your own edits and uploaded covers stay.
Fixes
- A book in a folder directly under its author (
Author/Book) took the author's name as its series, so its byline read "in Charles Dickens". The folder is now read as the author. Existing books are put right by the next scan, without re-indexing. - Pair a device: closing the dialog after creating an invite left an empty popup behind until a reload.
After updating
- If you ran Match automatically with "Fill in what's missing" on an
Author/Booklibrary, the misread series above stopped the match filling in the real one, and after the next scan those books show no series. Bulk matching never revisits matched books, so either re-match them from each book's page, or clear that library's community matches (Settings > Community metadata > Danger zone) and run Match automatically again. - The first start applies five database migrations (0035 to 0039); the first scan then corrects the
Author/Bookseries and reads release dates from tags, reading one file per affected book.
Every change to the player API is additive, so existing iOS, Android and web players keep working.
Bundled web player:
- The 2.0.0 player with: books in several series on their series, person and book pages; the community chapters line; Voice boost (except Safari); and the home shelves without the grey bar under the covers.
Native builds embed the web player; ffmpeg/ffprobe are found locally or
auto-downloaded on first use. Prefer Docker for advanced / multi-user
setups: ghcr.io/kodestar/audiosilo-server.
