Highlights

Coming from Audiobookshelf

  • When a book's folder holds the metadata.json Audiobookshelf keeps there (its Store metadata with item setting), AudioSilo now reads it: the title, authors, narrators, series and series number, published year, description, ASIN and ISBN go over what the audio tags say, as they do in Audiobookshelf. A value the file leaves empty doesn't clear the tag's.
  • A book whose file has an ASIN or ISBN counts as matched straight away, so community details, series rails and community chapters work for it without matching it by hand.
  • Your own edits and accepted community matches still win over the file, and the book page marks each value the file gave as Audiobookshelf.
  • Edit a book in Audiobookshelf and the next scan picks the change up without re-reading the audio; remove the file and its values go with it. AudioSilo never writes to the file.
  • Only a book's own folder counts. To stop a library using these files, add metadata.json to its skipped files (Edit library > Skip these files and folders).

After updating

  • One database migration (0046) runs on first start. The first scan then reads the metadata.json of each book that has one, once, without re-reading the audio; libraries without these files see no extra work.

Every change to the player API is additive, so existing iOS, Android and web players keep working.

Native builds embed the web player; ffmpeg/ffprobe are found locally or
auto-downloaded on first use. Prefer Docker for advanced / multi-user
setups: ghcr.io/kodestar/audiosilo-server.

AudioSilo is free; sponsors keep it going:
