Auth API

This project is an Authentication API supporting Login, Register, and Logout endpoints uses JWT for authentication and authorization, and securely hashing user passwords.

Requirements

• Java 17+
• Spring Boot 3.5.x
• MySQL 8+
• Maven

Installation / Running the Project

1. Set environment variables in .env file:

2. Create the database and run the SQL script create_users_table.sql

3. Run the project:

   • Using Maven to run the Spring Boot application:

     mvn spring-boot:run
     

   • Or build and run the jar manually:

     # Build the jar file
     mvn clean package
     
     # Run the jar file
     java -jar target/auth-api-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
     

The application will run at http://localhost:8080

API Endpoints

Notes

• Endpoints that require authentication (Get user details, Logout) must include a JWT token in the Authorization header, obtained from the /auth/login response.
• Refresh tokens are stored in HTTP-only cookies and do not need to be sent manually.
• Users have roles and status (Active/Inactive) for access control.
